Title: P47 training
Post by: MjTalon on August 29, 2008, 04:03:06 AM
Are there any experienced jug pilots that doesn't mind lending there time to assist my squadron in the familiarization and tactics to use the jug effectively? Some of our members are kinda green and i would like them to get the best help available.

We could schedule a meet in the TA if possible, thanks!   :salute

Take the 8 50's with 267 rds per gun, and utilize your high speed flaps. Kill em quick. LIke a spit for instance. It holds its E very well while the jug dumps it very good. I fly usually around 10-12k, and use a notch of flaps and a lead turn for the merge to get a quick shot after the 1st turn, or an adv. if they start TnBn wit ya. If they take it vertical, and you know you're not gonna get em, dive out. Use your roll to get them in rolling scissors as a last resort. Fought texture's 109 in TA today and would get 1st shot, but then he'd reverse the fight thru turnfighting. Then I went back to tactics of get em quick, dive out when losing the advantage in turnfight, and actually hit em pretty good, without taking hits. Don't stay in extended turnfights with jug, except for planes such as 190's. Try these tacics out some time.  :salute and good luck.

PS: Jugs Rule :rock

If you want some fun and a challenge take the Jug into FT with the smallest gun pack.

That last 47 flight we did Talen was like my first since about when you left. I blew an easy shot to clear your 6 cause the front of the Jug felt so heavy and mushy. Definatly I need to get in them more to keep my skills up.

Sure there wa a squad going around that flew Jugs all the time, they had some fantastic sticks in it, Think they were the 56th F Group, Might be worth trying to find any members/Ex members of that mob. They were to Jugs what some of  the guys like Pawz and Corky are to 38's
