i would like to see AH put in the Pak 40 anti tank gun.
Development of the PaK 40 began in 1939 with development contracts being placed with Krupp and Rheinmetall to develop a 7.5 cm anti-tank gun. Priority of the project was initially low, but Operation Barbarossa in 1941 and the appearance of heavily armoured Russian tanks like the KV-1, increased the priority. The first guns were delivered in November 1941. By 1943 PaK 40 formed the bulk of the German anti-tank artillery.
The PaK 40 was the standard German anti-tank gun until the end of the war, and was supplied by Germany to its allies. Some captured pieces were used by the Red Army. After the end of the war the PaK 40 remained in service in several European armies, including Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Hungary and Romania.
About 23,500 pieces were produced, and about 6,000 more were used to arm tank destroyers.
The muzzle velocity was about 790 meters per second

I like to see the interest in guns that we can put in towns. I think we really need one on each corner so we can kill LVTS and tank raids. :aokgood idea
-
thats a good idea what you are talking about what im talking about though was have it where we can spawn it like GV's and set it up for tank busting. :rock
-
For the people wondering how it was moved it was moved two ways.
one it was hooked to the back of Tank's exc. as shown here.
Then it was also pushed.

how do you put a image from your Documents into here?
once i find out how to do this i will put a game graphic of this.
-
Jeep to pull it but make it a perk mode with say 2-3 perks if you lose it :noid
-
i agree on perking it if we get it but more than 3 -4 more like 10 - 20 .
i say this because of its small size its hard to hit. and because it can hide great.

I would imagine based upon the "shootonce-boom" model that AH2 uses, it would be a very easy target to destroy unless modeled with a very low profile. But even then...
I think having these guns would be a great idea for static defense. I say put 3-4 of these on every air base and perhaps 2-3 of them on the vehicle bases. Oh, and instead of them being portable and in an open topped bunker like the manned ack, have them be in an armored bunker. Have it so that it takes 250lbs of ord to destroy the bunker (just like the ords, fuel, etc). It would be much easier to implement that into the game vs a towed AT gun.

I like it. Could be nice to do something about those damn T-34 base attacks. Its gonna only get worse too after the T-34/85 comes along...

I think that towed artillery is an element completely missing from the game, be it anti-tank, anti-aircraft, or field howitzers.
A 75mm could be unperked, as it would have roughly the same capabilities as a Panzer IV.
Perk (slightly) the Pak 43 88mm gun.
The trade off, is that once they're in position and set up, that's it...they're pretty much sitting ducks to any GVs that can get beyond their limited traverse.
Artillery... a US 75mm Pack howitzer, or an M1 105mm gun or 10.5cm leFH 18 (one can be towed by a Jeep, the other by M3), or perk a 155mm US or German 15cm sFH 18. The trade offs, again, are that they're 'soft' targets, have limited ammo, and require protection from GVs and aircraft. All of those things require additional players to support
Anti-aircraft...this is being discussed in another thread...the 37mm need to go, replaced with 40mm Bofor mounts. We also need a medium caliber AA gun to enable players to reach up to 10K+ where the buffs operate. An 88mm again is pefectly suited, no proximity fusing, just pure 'blast radius'. Perk it with a US 90mm AA gun with proximity fusing.
Just my opinion...

i agree with you on those things also. maybe a 250 lb bunker would be best idea.

The only issue I have with a bunker, is that its a permanent structure.
Towed artillery would allow you to move ord into a secure position and lob artillery onto a town.
I've defended and attacked a few bases that have sat at the foot of high hills. Imagine setting up a 105 and throwing shells down onto a town or base, with GVs trying to cover air attacks and armor attacks.
That'd be cool...

i think we all agree though that this needs to be added and that we have given all the information that is needed. i tried to cover every bit of info i could on the first post.
anyway.
YES we need this.
YES we will use this.
YES UNCLE SAM WANTS YOU !!!.. ( sorry was caught up in the moment :devil )

I've got all the ballistic data, armor penetration data, etc...for practically all WW2 era artillery pieces (based on post-war testing and evaluations of foreign equipment vs. US ordnance at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in 1946)
If you get a call, let me know, I'll make it available.

Love the idea...
But its definately not a new one!!!

Bumpage.
I wanted to throw into this discussion a bit of something to chew on when it comes to adding in something completely new to this game. The coding needs to be as simple as it gets. Adding in a towed peice would not be as easy as it sounds. I suggested the static defense in a bunker similar to the ords, etc os for a few simple reasons:
1, the static model of the AT gun, which ever model is used almost %100 already done. Simply take the manned ack we have now and limit the verticle tilt and maybe give it a 135d horizontal arc of fire. That part is done. The biggest issue would be to devise the bunker and implement a dmg model. Perhaps have the top of the bunker be able to be destroyed by 250lbs, and the front/sides/rear at 500lbs so it is able to stand up to enemy tank fire at least for a bit. All of a sudden thos esmoke rounds for the Panzer IV just became a bit more handy. ;) Also, maybe the pivot point of the gun would need to be moved to the rear of the weapon about 9ft to mimic the gun carraige it is mounted on.
Point is, keep it as simple as possile to implement. ;)
