I've been getting so many diso's this camp I can barely see the point in trying to play.
Two so far today. One of them lost me 3 AR234's. The other in a 109G14 after climbing out for 5 minutes, only to have to start over.
Fix your d@mn game. Oh wait, according to Skuzzy it's always the players fault. Nothing wrong with the servers. Uh huh... sure.

More likely a problem on the internet somewhere between your computer and HTC's servers.

:aok
I don't have that many dicsos, only during storms.
-
I'm blaming it all on Karaya.........and the Russian haxors :noid
-
I doubt its anything with their servers. I think there is something wrong with the internet many places. Could be weather related or some deeper problems with the internet itself. Sites that has always popped up instantly for me has been slow and un responsive at times over the last few weeks but not consistantly. I belive i have read somewere that there is a DNS problem or something with the web but im no geek. I do trust that skuzzy knows what he is talking about and that if they indeed had a problem they would be able to fix it very quickly. This is what they make their money off and skuzzy is the kind of man that would stay awake until a problem is fixed. Its a very service oriented crowd over there in Grapewhine :)
-
If it was the server, there would be a crap storm on the boards, as everyone, everywhere would have the same problem.
Just something to consider.
If some have a problem going into a server, and others don't have a problem going into the same server, it isn't the server. Think about it. There are countless ways to get into the servers that have absolutely nothing to do with HTC.
Take a moment to clean your computer, update your spyware database then run it, update your virus scan program and run it, run a clean disk, then trace your connections.
I'll bet you find a problem in between somewhere. Again, look around, you don't see the boards on fire with connection problems, and you know this crowd well enough. If there was an actual problem, the boards would ignite. Wouldn't it.
-
Why not run a pingplot and see where the problem is.....b4 ranting?
-
Bald
By disco what do you mean??? kicked to desktop, loss of UDP,blue screen of death.
It would help if you explained alittle better, running pingplotter will find the problem if
it's a loss of conection or isp.It could be as simple as rebooting your router,so without
really knowing what the problem is how can you find a solution???
-
Ping Plotter and Ad-aware SE are your friend. Run the adaware every night.....you'll be surprised with the amount a spyware that you pick up.
-
Bald, there have been a few times where we all had problems, but I'm thinking your is local, as was mine the other day. I know your system and the problem is not there, look outside the box.
-
I've always been curious why people always blame HTC when things don't go their way.
-
Sorry guys. Just frustration running over.
I know how to keep my system running clean.
It's a host connection lost error without a lost UDP or switch to TCP.
I think I know what it is. I think it's an auto updater I might have overlooked. It seems to disco me about every hour and a half (I got a third one after posting). We'll see if I'm right or not. I haven't had time to look at it yet.
Grrrrr!

I've had this 2x. first time, my modem was dying (comcast issue), last time was isp issue, again comcast. I realize many different reasons why this might happen, just my experience

i nvr get discos, maybee a little lagg here and there, but only when i fly into a big furball

Im with Bald' on this one. I too have been experiencing disco's lately. Never had disco's before, now, all of the sudden, it's been happening regularly. Who can say why it's happening.
-
I am getting some bad ping times in the Dallas area. 13 hops to the Hitech servers and thats the only place the pings are erratic.
-
couple days ago this happened to many of my squadmates, think 3 or 4 wer continously disconnecting, and another few wer disconnecting and getting a chiity connection that usually are fine...i lucked out and didnt have problems, but this time i think its more than just the players, i think its htc also...
-
The last time I had disco problems with Wednesday night snapshot, but that was happening to a lot of players (UDP lost etc). Other than that, I maybe get 1 disco every 6 months. And over the last 3+ years I've used different ISP's with no problems as you're describing (ATT & Charter).

same here, dont think ive gotten a disco in the past yr unless it was sumthin stupid on my part, like disconnecting the modem plug with my feet...
-
I had three today (*edit*, disconnects from host), and that's more than the last year or so.
I'm in Bend, Oregon...maybe something happening out here to the pipe? Not sure why I kept losing connection tonight on Sunday from 5pm - 9pm PST.

where did you get that??? :rofl

I think I got it figured out. Yesterday my McAfee suite poped up a warning that I hadn't updated in a while, even though I have it set to manual updates and have evrything in the suite turned off. I ignored it.
Last night I ran the update and no discos since. Somehow, even though it won't connect to the Internet on it's own, when the warning pops up it disco's me. That also explains the intrusive, periodic (evey hour and a half) disco.
Anyway, I hope that's it.
Sorry Skuzzy. I was just frustrated.

Baldeagle do you happen to use Qwest?..I've been having lots of problems from about 10:30 on..

Nope. Comcast.

Must be your AOL.
-
Spoke too soon. Another disco tonight.
-
baldeagle download adaware SE and run it.
thats what i did when i kept getting disco's like you and it cleared it up every time.
<<S>>
trust me on this.

Comcast.
And there in lies the problem.

You retracted the rants already, but I'm curious - this keeps coming up but I've never actualy seen Skuzzy "blame" players for their connection problems.

what he said. :aok
-
I never recalled blaming anyone for a connection issue. My stance has always been, it is within the power of every player to make a determination about the quality of the connection using tools such as Ping Plotter.
There is always something wrong somewhere on the Internet at any given minute of the day. This being a national holiday weekend in the U.S., I would expect more problems with the Internet than during normal times.
No reason to get frustrated. You can test the data path to the servers yourself. Now, if the problem is on the return trip to your computer, then I have to run a complimentary trace/Ping Plot back to your computer as these utilities can only show the sending path in a network which runs asynchronous data paths. You can tell this when the the problem shows to be the last or next to the last hop in the trace.
-
You can rest assured that it isn't AH fault for disco's.Somewhere in the inner workings, there is flaw, in your system.I had similar problem, picked up phone, talked to Skuzzy"a true gentleman",and he suggested playing the game in the Win 98 mode, and bingo, problem solved.Hat's off to Skuzzy, and I hope you find your problem.

By the way, if your Ping Plot looks good, there are also services that can cause discos. Such as Apples iPod/iTunes service for Windows as well as Quicktime.
Norton is a headache under Vista. The only way to solve that problem is to remove Norton from the computer, then re-install the operating system.
And instant messenger can wreak havoc as well.
Basically, if a program outside of Aces High II, uses an Internet connection, it has the possibility of causing a disco.

That was a poor choice of words. "places blame on the players computer or connection" would have been more appropriate.

I don't have any of those. I'm going to have to look at whatever updaters exist (I know there's one for my HP network printer and for Adobe Acrobat). I hope I can remember what all there is. If you recall, this is a relatively new machine and I've kept it pretty slimmed down so there can't be that much stuff.
As far as my connection goes, I've run ping plotter and everything looks fine. I used to go months on end without a disco. It's just become an issue over the past month or so.

Try this out.

Packet loss - statistic collected from major routers across the world. As you can see, last weekend was really bad.

Even if your ping plot is OK, there's a good chance some of your other packets will get dropped. All depends how particular frame gets routed...

Someone lost 2 262s today when first, the map was reset for TT, and then they waited a couple minutes to reset scores which booted everyone again. :rofl
-
I disco every so often.... I have comcast and it is terrible. I wish Roadrunner would come back, they were much better.
That being said.... it's not really that bad. Things are good and it's great to be alive.
-
I still take issue with the word 'blame'. I do not, nor ever have, blamed a computer or user for disco problems. Discos will happen. At some point everyone will experience it. There is no point in blaming anything. If the problem is chronic, then it is a matter of working through it. If it happens once in a while, then it is pretty safe to attribute it to a network burp.
The problem with a disco is the sheer volume of places and circumstances which can cause it. All you can do is start with the most likely place and work your way through it.
There will always be some areas of the country worse than others. Then a storm can change that map quickly. Yes, the weather in one part of the world, can effect your Internet connection in another part of the world. Hurricanes in the southern U.S. can effect people in Alaska. Ice storms in Canada can impact people in South Texas. It is all about traffic management. If a link goes down, another has to step up and carry the load. The switchover can wreak havoc for a bit. Routes change regularly on the Internet. ISP's come and go. The Internet is always in a state of flux.
Then you have all the local software that can wreak havoc with connections, then others on your own network can cause you problems depending on the applications they are running. It is amazing it works as well as it does.
-
You might as well check the background processes too. It looks like you have a couple of auto updating processes(Norton, I-Tunes) that want to take over your net connection, and look for updates periodically.
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/Archive/servicecfg.htm (http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/Archive/servicecfg.htm) Will help you trim down those background processes, that may try to sneak your connection out from under you. Plus AH runs smoother for me without all those wasted CPU cycles.
-
And instant messenger can wreak havoc as well.
Number one problem in gaming right there. These apps will querry at will when not used for period of time, and most of the time it will cause disco's. Also, most folks have a dozen (or two or three dozen) things running in the background....and don't even know it. EndItAll is one of the best apps out there to kill everything thats not windows related. YMMV in Pissta though.

I got comcast, and im on a router, still nvr disco = /
