Skuzzy:
I fired up AH2 this past week and it's blowing up on me. Last time I flew was a couple of weeks ago. I haven't manually installed and reconfigured anything that I know of. I tried a total reinstall of AH2 hoping to get around it but no luck. It crashes at the same place each time (before and after the reload of AH2) when the textures are loading.
Here's the vista event log message for it:
Faulting application aceshigh.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x480ec604, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bdc9, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00061ef8, process id 0x1188, application start time 0x01c90ae05633435b.
Need some advice as to what I should be doing to resolve it. Thanks!

Well, for what it's worth I noticed that it was dying at one of the **_1024.tca files. I reset my video to textures at 512 and AH came up. Haven't tried reloading 1024 textures again to see what it does.

Re-installed the 1024 texture pack and it's working now on 1024.

Corruption of the cached data is pretty easy to do, unfortunately. If you minimize Aces High II during the creation of the cache, it can corrupt the cache during its build. If you are running and anti-virus program, it can corrupt the cache while the files are being generated. If you are running any type of security related software, it can cause cache corruption while the cache is being built.

Thanks for the response Skuzzy. Good to know about things that can corrupt the cache.
