Title: A nice clean up
Post by: stroker71 on August 31, 2008, 11:02:42 PM
How about ideas to make the game more clear.

1: Take the capture out of the attack section of the score

2:  Only list the type of vehicles avaliable IE:  On vbases it lists fighter and bombers and you can't get them...why not list them as N/A or not at all?

3:  If you take no risk then you get no credit IE: completely get rid of the ship/ gunner score and name in lights.

4:  I have more but can't think right now..it's midnight!  Anyone think of more?

Oh and free the 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#1:  OK.  I'll go alone with that.  I'm not sure what that accomplishes, though.  :)

#2.  Agreed.  If I am at a veh base, why do I have to see the looong list of aircraft as well as the gv's available?

#3.  Agreed.  The "name in lights" system message needs to be thrown in the trash for multiple reasons.

#4.  Let me grab another beer and I'll help you think.

oh.. and YES!  FREE THE SPIT14!   :aok

#1.  Ok, I'll play along with that.

#2.  There is a little button that will only list the enabled rides when you are in the Hangar.  I hope you find it and put a check mark next to it. :aok

#3.  Don't care about score, so meh, ok.

#4.  I brew my own, a smooth mellow West Coast Pale Ale.  :rock That ought to get the creative juices going.

AFIAK, there are no hard coded restriction for planes availability from v-bases, its just arena setup.

While you're at it, make the sortie scored as "attack" automatically if you take bombs or a/g rockets.

Well this request was brought up mainly by one of the new map we are using.  Some of the ports are really airbases so it would be nice to have a nice right click p21 status.  If it showed aircraft avaliable then you knew it was an airbase....if not then a real port.   Same was when a CV goes down show the aircraft disabled.

Did you even read what Iron_Cross said?  It's funny to see how many people reply not knowing that it can be set up that way.  Sheese.....  It's also funny to see how many people don't fully understand the value of reading things through.

So to end the discussion on your silly #2.... IT CAN BE DONE THAT WAY DUDE!!!

And #3... Manned guns aren't going anywhere.  But perhaps the fix to fix people's emotional state about the guns....  If you are ejected (Landed) from a gun by enemy force, it goes down as a kill.  If you end sortie it goes down as a landed.  If your gun is destroyed, you die, no landing.

OK smart guy go right click on any port on any map and it will show fighters and bombers....you can't get fighters or bombers at a port.  Thats what I am talking about....geeez can't you read?  Also click on a CV group after the carrier is downed...still shows fighters and bombers enabled...that also is what I want to end.  When the CV goes down show AC as disabled.  And don't call me dude :lol

Right click the aircraft list, click on the one that says  "Enabled Only"

Are you happy?

Oh and... The cv example is a bad one.  Even with enabled only turned on, you will see those carrier planes.  However you may notice they are red'd out.

What's wrong with dude?   :rock

ok i'll type slowly for you and try to use small words.

Go into any map...sit in the tower...bring up your clipboard map....right click on any vbase...click on status of said vbase...it shows fighters and bombers enabled....that what I want changed.  I know vbases don't offer fighter or bombers but that point I am trying to make is about the port on one of the maps are actually airbases.  A squadie and I were the only ones on so we wanted to take a base.  Vbases and ports are about the only bases you can take with 2 people.  We flew to a port only to find it was a large airbase...I guess our attack mission turned into a recon mission.  So we downed the VH and killed a few uppers.  Not all lost but would have been nice going into it what we were attacking.  And the dude thing was a joke...I watched 21 last night and Kevin Spacey said that!

Same thing on CV's when you kill the radar it changes to disabled why not show fighter/bombers disabled when the cv goes down?

Maybe even...

And as I already told you fool, when the cv goes down, the aircraft turn red.  What more could you possibly want?  Simpleton.

You know, I don't want to sound like a wise guy, but seriously, you didn't even try it, and then you go on and on about why you can't do something that you very well can.  It doesn't make you look like a person that has some amount of common sense.  Hope you get better dude!!!

LLogann,

I believe he (Stroker71) is talking about the status of enemy bases.  When you check an enemy base, whether it has an airstrip or not,
it will show that fighters/bombers are enabled.  So that you cannot determine if a port is only a port or if it has an attached airfield
simply by looking at the clipboard.

I haven't looked at this myself to see if that's the case or not, but it's what I'm understanding from his  posts.

Nah he didn't, as he speaks of the aircraft list with his original comments.  But, what you say does make for a great idea.  At a vBase, fighters/bombers ARE enabled, they should be disabled.  That should be an easy fix!    <S> SkiMan   :salute

Yes, I think you're right.  I honestly skimmed the original post, but assumed it said the same thing as the follow up posts.
Clearly, he changes midstream from "what is available" (own base) to "what is the status" (enemy base) after he's called on it.

Sorry I interrupted, carry on... :D

They both do, one has one in the center of the port icon (normal port) and the other has it off to the side (airfield w/ town) because that's where the maproom is.

I think what he means is under the status, not when your in the hanger.  So if it were an enemy base where you can't double click, enter the hanger, and see what aircraft are available, you can at least tell if there is an airfield attached to the port or not.  When you right clicked on the enemy field in the clipboard and went to status it would say "Fighters: N/A" and "Bombers: N/A" instead of "Enabled" on the field status because that Port doesn't have airfield.

Thats what I was talking about...and it was late when I wrote that.  It was my understanding that everyone already knew how to do what your talking about.  Your right I did word it wrong....just didn't think someone would make such a big deal about it.  And as far as I can tell your the only one beating the dead horse.  I tried to explain it in other post but you insisted on going on and on about it.

I also agree that if you fly under attack you have to take off with ords of some sort.  Fighter sorties can only be started with clean wings.

So that means that bombing tanks would only be an attack sortie, correct?

Is this true to real life?

No thanks.  I commonly intentionally take ord along for a fighter stortie.

It was the word available that threw us all off, or at least me.  Even in the later posts, aircraft available, in my head points back to the hanger.  You'll forgive my rather obnoxious replies.  <S>

I tried to explain it in other post but you insisted on going on and on about it.

Yes.  And while they're at it, make any sortie flown without ordinance a fighter sortie.  No selecting "attack" just because you're defending a base.

Yes.  And while they're at it, make any sortie flown without ordinance a fighter sortie.  No selecting "attack" just because you're defending a base.

Spawn with bombs, drop them before take off == attack sortie w/o bombs.
Stop cares about others scores.
