Title: What is the relationship between.....
Post by: Yeager on September 02, 2008, 09:42:45 PM
Martinis and olives.  I find the combination of the two, with gin of course, to be almost beyond significant...to be nearer to God.....as it were.

Thoughts?

Without fail a thread mentioning alcohol turns into people posting what their favorite alcohol is, regardless of the topic.

What kind of olives?
All I use is the safeway brand standard rom of the mill italian green olives with pimento inside.

I wonder if other more exotic olives would appreciably enhance the tasting experience.

Damn maritins are wicked though.  Got to stop at two.  or three.  sometimes four, but really thats all I can handle.

I sure as hell enjoy it :)  Life without teh booze would be very very uncompelling.  I do understand that there are certain types who become addicted to it.  Pardon me anyway, I need a refill.

Ketel One martini, large green Spanish olives stuffed with Maytag Blue cheese.  Sublime perfection.

I just drank a bottle of this stuff (http://pravdavodka.com/pravda.htm) while camping this past week-end. Excellent vodka.  We had it chilled, straight up, with a lemon twist. Is that still considered a martini? I don't think it is a martini without having a skosh of vermouth or the olive...

In the strictest sense of the word that isn't a martini... but it is still a mighty fine way to fill a glass  :salute

When it comes to Martini's, i like to mix it up...

If you want to try something really extraordinary, may i suggest using a Tomolive in your next drink?
Tomolive = pickled green tomatoes... don't freak... they are amazing in a Vodka Martini

I also enjoy a Jalapeno stuffed olive in my martini's

And of course... you can never go wrong with the classic  :aok :aok :aok

Cheers my friends!
