After countless privet messages on the game and on the BBS when they saw what the meaning of VansCrew was i decided to change it back. I just got back from my grand fathers with tons of information about him and the people he flew with. Ive got tail numbers from about 50 different B17's from the 359th 360th 427th and many more. I also have mission debriefings from three different mission my grandfather flew. If anyone is interested in this info let me know ill be more then glad to send it to you.
Top left is my grandfather.

Just curious, you mind putting up some info on your grandfather?
My sister's Grandfather escorted bombers from the 303 a lot before he got wounded by 20mm flack. (P-51 Pilot)

Someone check the shed, one of the tools got out again :lol

He was stationed in Molesworth, England. 303BG/360BS"Hells angels"(the original Hells Angels)

Cool, I'm gonna see if I can dig up some old letters and records from him.
My sister's grandfather had served for quite a while before getting hit. (Nearly took his arm off)
There actualy is a famous painting of when my grandfather got shot I think. It looks like a low flying P-51 by a horse drawn wagon shooting at it.

I believe the "Hells Angels" of the AVG preceeded these.

So why jump from squad to squad, when you can make your own "303BG/360BS" to pay tribute?? And stick w/ it?

Not really the bomber type.

Not really the bomber type.
Doesn't mean you have to fly bombers.

If my Grandfather or Opa (German) flew a plane I think I would fly whatever they flew like mad.

I originally came across the 303rd awhile back doing research for a friend of mine who's grandfather flew for the 359th BS. The group was involved in some heavy fighting and flew on some of the famous, or rather infamous raids to Schweinfurt.
Would be interesting to see the dates he was "over there".

Not really the bomber type.
Hey im in a RAF squadron but havent flown a spit in 8 years. Closest get is humping a spit otr in a jeep when we have squad flights.

Big WTG to VANS!!
My Grandpa had pullt a Frontgun and a Propellerblade from a Boston3 Bomber that Ditched near our Village Toumpa by Kilkis Greece
he said that one sunny day they worked in the Tabako and cotton fields the plane was flying low roaring loud with big black smoke and a German plane was shooting on it (he said Stuka) when the plane crashed all ran to the place before the Germans arived the Australian crew survived 3 where hiding under my Grandfathers chicken cotage to 1 of the Australians Famelie we still got contact.
For the Propellerblade my Grandpa got spoons and Knifes, for the Hydraulig Mashinegun he got nothing so he digged it in the Garden.
1980 we Build a New house and the Mashinegun came out still had Hydraulig oil in and the Last Big Bullet.
The Boston 3 Wraged is still outside oure Village now between Bushes and trees all Aluminium is stolen not much left.

WTG VansCrew!! :salute to your family and it's history. I love seeing the pics of the fliers from back in WWII :aok
I agree with another poster, you should start up a squad in memory of your grandfather and his crew. You can always have a bomber group and an escort group, there's plenty of guys in AH that like to fly the buffs. :)
