With the ability to host a server for say 4 v 4 action ?
-
Someone released one for the movie Flyboys that was free multiplayer. I'm not sure if it's still around.

I'm sure DMF would appreciate that.

Huh, actually looks like an interesting game. Have you played it before?

Try it yourself. Download Target Ware and install the mod.

I'm procrastinating on an essay enough as it is.
-
Ahhh.... Never mind.
-
graphics are not that great.
-
Well, its a mod. Not a popular one on top of that. Wouldn't expect it to be graphically amazing.

TW's flight model isn't all that great either. Think of the engine management in IL2 multiply it by 12 and tack on a sub-par flight model and not so hot graphics and you have TW.
ack-ack

I still don't understand why, after HTC has done all the legwork to create a flight sim engine, he doesn't expand into Korea or WW1. Korea in particular I think would be a small step.
They flew alot of prop planes that we have the lil brothers of already. And HTC can obviously coad jets with the Me-262.
Why not tack on a Korea arena?
-
I'd rather have WWI, just saying.

same here
-
I agree, WWI would be freaking sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ett!!!!!!!1!
-
I downloaded the "Richthofen's Skies" and the mods, I got in the planes and couldn't even get the thing off the ground.
I tried everything... all the key commands and all I could do was turn engine on, fire all guns, and cruise the countryside... on the ground LOL!!
If I could get of the ground I think I would like it :)
The online players tonight were a total of '8'. So I don't think there would be a great online experience like you find in AHII.
If HTC were to launch a WWI version, we would smoke 'em :D

Exactly! With the basic flight model developed to the point that us internet eggheads will debate for hours over 5-10mph of top speed, I think simply applying the model to WWI era aircraft would be relatively simple (especially when compared to a start up company building everything from scratch).
I would be a big supporter of an experiment.
Why not model a very small number of WWI craft. Set up an arena with a very limited very small map, no base capture stuff. Make it available to AH2 subscribers. See what kind of new life it breathes into the player base.

And to do it quickly, just model it off the D3A Val! :D

hehe
But really, given the same level of attention that the AH2 flight models have been given, HTC could flesh out a really intgeresting and diverse plane set.
Also, something that I would find interesting would be an arena (whether WWI or the current AH2 planeset) that starts at the EW stage and then matures into MW and then LW over time. Like an arena that follows the time progression over the course of a tour.

Ex: 4 Week Month: First week, you only get EW Planes, 2nd Week, you only get MW planes, 3rd Week, you only get LWPlanes...
Which really doesn't make a difference to me, because I fly the Spit 5, Spit 9, P-39D/Q and Jug. So, it isn't a sacrafice at all to me. (course, a sortie in the P-51D is always great!)

A8HatTrick,
Here are some other sites.

When Flyboys came out, there was rumors of HiTech having a hand in the WWI game that was released at the same time. He popped into a thread we were discussing and asked us where we thought that game's flight model came from...

Thats what i think haveing a WW1 , WW2 and a korea arena would be way to cool :rock
-
We had a Korea arena in AirWarrior, if I remember correctly...

I would so love to play such a game. Just looking at the art. Nueport(sp?), SE5, and maybe a DR1... Heck toss in an Albatross and a Camel and we got the makings of something really cool!

No please. IMO HTC should focus on ww2 and make sure it remains the best ww2 flight game out there. If they had time to waste though i would not be upset if they made the the f86 and mig15 and enabled them in a DA type arena. Problem is that people always want more...

yeah it was warbirds. when the game crashes it said Warbirds3d.exe has encountered an error or something :)
the free demo i played of flyboys sim was hugely fun.

I'd love a wwI expansion of AHII... I posteda thread in the wishlist bout adding the EW plane set from late 30s early 40s.

Ya,
That is a bit much, That is why I fly on my own server and mod the aircraft to fit and make it fun. The debates will really ruin the game.
-
Would be nice to pop into a WWI setting once in a while.
-
I wish there was a online sim with modern planes. If HTC made it I'd pay $30.00 a month :rock
-
LO-MAC is what you want then, assuming you dont run a stone age PC like me.

awesome! better than flyboys by a mile
-
Doa (flyboys) is soo much fun !
Reason is - you really have to work the enemy aircraft over , riddle them with bullets , over and over again, until you get a pilot kill, or plane structure falls apart, or you hit fuel and lit up.
It really set you apart from AH2 4*20mm kills.

The Wrabirds III version of DOA is a pale comparison to the DOAII sim in just about every aspect (i.e. number of aircraft, features , and flight model fidelity). Of course you cant play it any more because they killed it to support their newer (7 year old) version. Though if you have version 2.55 , you can HTH with it ok.
I sorely miss the old DOA crowd. :frown:
-
I liked version 2 better both for WB and Doa ( except fw190a8 and 109 g models)
-
I'd like to see WWI and Spanish Civil War arenas (then I'd finally get to see the I-16) and maybe Korea (then we'd get the A-26 for sure).
-
If HTC put up a WWI Sim, I'd signup in a heartbeat. I know a ton of people who would also. It is a completely unserved market.

Wab

Currently I have been playing warbirds '04' edition, waiting impatiently for
our home-budget to straighten out enough to put my AH2 account back on.
The '04' edition has the WWI models like the Camel,DRI,DVII,Spad and SE5A.
Editor allows you to experiment just about anyway you want.Best part was
that it was a full free-game download and not just a demo.
Best download source for Warbirds 2004 is "Gamershell".
-
I tried that so I could get me some WWI plane action, but the free play put me in some monstrosity that did NOT in any way resemble a SPAD VIII :(
How do I get the real looking planes?
OK I figured out if I cannibalised Flyboys Demo I can put the WWI aircraft into Warbirds 2004 :D
Sweet.
