When near cv's from just out of ack range to the cv I have strange layering, noises, and mini freezes. This happens in different views and angles of plane but doesn't seem to be specific, as these change per cv. The layering is I think, the smoke, this comes across as white grids triangulated. the more smoke/cloud about the worse it is. The noise is a buzzing and elongating of voice if somebody has just said something. The freeze is a freeze which can be any where from 1-3 seconds. I haven't be told I'm warping during these times. My suspicion is my graphics card NiVida GeForce 6600 (256)...I am considering going back to my Radeon (128) as I had no issues with this and I don't seem to use more than 70 Mb of the card for this game. Any clues on this issue or card, I run hi res textures, and default sounds...have never downloaded a sound pack.

Doesn't hurt to move the cache (\HTC\Aces High II\cache) folder to your desktop (makes AH think it was erased) and then load the game. This should initiate another cache generation which could possibly fix the issue. Remember, let AH do it's thing while the cache is generating. :aok

If your using the info you can bring up in the game for this number, DON'T. Graphic cards don't report the number correctly, so its not a good idea to use it. It does sound like a resource issue, but with out more info, its just a guess. Turning off the hi-rez texture, and try it again. maybe your computer really can't handle it. Run a dxdiag and post the first third here. some one might spot a problem.

I had the same issue (white grids of smoke and sometimes the paths for ships too) with my last AMD system and Nvidia drivers where an older driver and an update mixed to create this problem. I recommend removing all Nvidia drivers (graphics) cleaning the system of any remnant files and then reinstalling the drivers after a reboot.

cool cheers guys here's the dx

with only 1 gig of ram you could have a pretty big bottle neck there. I hope you havn't set the game to preload textures or skins. Also onboard sound could be hitting your CPU pretty hard if there is a lot of action around the CV. I'd drop the textures down to 512 at least, maybe even 256. Its going to be a compromise. How much eye candy can you live without for the smoothest pictures?
-
The 6600LE is avery low end video card. Your just overloaded its processing power by using the high resolution texture package. For that card, the "Maximum Texture Size" should be 256.

That's what I thought, cheers skuzzy. Back to the radeon it is then

The 5XXX and 6XXX series needs to be run with driver version 84.xx or below. Anything above this and major issues arise.

I myself have a 6800 agp in one machine and a 5200fx agp in another. Both fail to even work under anything above 84.xx. My 8500gt on the other hand works flawlessly with the latest 175.19
