Title: Dogs of War Frame 1 Screens
Post by: Nefarious on September 06, 2008, 01:02:58 AM
Well, I thought I bagged a couple Enemy Aircraft. Then I checked the logs, I still did pretty good though.

Here was my first pass on an enemy, I forgot to switch back to cannons.

I kept making passes on Ivan, who was easy to pick out of the huge fights.

Fireball!

Another P-39 Damaged.

Took some ground fire, and got wounded, successfully landed.

Since, last time, I did not give a proper report....

III/JG11 was tasked with escorting a group of Ju88's to A41.
Along the way, we met a 'detour', as a group of Russian bombers ran through our formations. III/JG11 broke off and proceeded to obliterate them.

Despite Stampf's order of 'one pass and regroup', we got a bit greedy and stuck with the Bostons until they were all dead... as a result, we got all split up. As a result, the majority of my Schwarm (Vilkas, PDM and I, TheBug was able to keep with the rest of the Gruppe) didn't make it back to the bombers until they had just met the Yakovlev 9T interceptors.
At this point, we proceeded to pick off what was left (very little).

As the bombers reversed for another pass, we met a group of P39Q's. They were fairly low, apparently trying to RTB. My schwarm engaged them, killing Yakovlev, 1 P39, losing PDM in a collision and Vilkas due to pilot error.

Once all of the Ivans had either landed or were dead, TheBug and I proceeded to attempt to regroup with the rest of the Gruppe. At this point a fifth Airacobra showed up at our high six o'clock. On his first pass he made a lucky shot on my oil and I was forced to RTB.

Unfortunately I was not able to make it the whole way. By the end of the frame I had earned 2 kills, 3 assists, and a 10 mile hike back to base.

Actually my tracers were on, but if I recall, I just used a short burst there.  :)

"FLAK? Rook base shoots at the 49th"

Shooting at the 49th is just the thing to do, I am sure those aaa gunners were just trying to fit in.  ;)

Yeah , all I heard was bullets hitting my plane. I did manage to fly for about 5 minutes after that and get some hits on a bomber. But that oil spray is annoying. Good shooting.

Usually our big 38's make nice targets. But they sure are fun to fly.   And Odee got the short end of the stick on the AAA.
