I was just listening to a talk show host who said Sunday morning,
Obama was talking about his religion and said he was Musslum.
Then started stumbling around and said he meant the was a Christian.
Anyone see it...when I find clip I will post it!!
-
It's already up here on the board... about 40 seconds after the show ran.

yup, they were discussing McCain attacking Obama's religious beliefes and stephanopolis pressured him on the fact that McCain hadn't actually said that. Here you read it, from the washington post:
"These guys love to throw a rock and hide their hand."
"The McCain campaign has never suggested you have Muslim connections," said Mr. Stephanopoulos, who repeatedly interrupted Mr. Obama during the interview.
"I don't think that when you look at what is being promulgated on Fox News, let's say, and Republican commentators who are closely allied to these folks," Mr. Obama responded, and Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted: "But John McCain said that's wrong."
Mr. Obama noted that when the Republican vice-presidential nominee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, "was forced" to talk about her pregnant 17-year-old daughter, he issued a forceful statement to reporters that the line of inquiry was "off limits."
But he said the McCain campaign tried to tie him to "liberal blogs that support Obama" and are "attacking Governor Palin."
"Let's not play games," he said. "What I was suggesting - you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come."
Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted with, "Christian faith."
"My Christian faith," Mr. Obama said quickly. "Well, what I'm saying is that he hasn't suggested that I'm a Muslim. And I think that his campaign's upper echelons have not, either.
"What I think is fair to say is that, coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest that perhaps I'm not who I say I am when it comes to my faith - something which I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time," Mr. Obama said.
Asked to comment on the accidental misstatement illustrating the difficulty of the issue, Obama spokesman Bill Burton offered this comment: "I'm not surprised that the only outlet doing this story is The Washington Times."

What does this have to to with 4 dollar gas, a economy in shambles, and a broken health care system?
-
This wasn't even a slip up, it was Obama saying one thing and the interviewer understanding another.
Obama - What I was suggesting - you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come.
Stephanopoulos - Christian faith.
Obama - My Christian faith. Well, what I'm saying is that he hasn't suggested that I'm a Muslim.
How on earth is this a story? Is this what passes for political debate in America?
I've seen a lot of people on this board over the years blaming politicians for the state of the US government. Having seen the level of "debate" in this election campaign, I don't think it's the politicians at fault, it's the people who take statements out of context, assign silly nicknames and discuss teenager's pregnancies rather than the political issues.
Sorry to say but I think America is going to get the government it deserves.

The economy is in shambles? Huh. Is there a recession or something going on?

Agreed.

OPPS sorry for the duplicate...I'll watch it...Thanks

Its got everything to do with it...here you have a Musslum Obama saying he is Christian
That would be a lie...now.. if Obama says he is a musslum to the whole world..what are his
chances of him being the Pres of the USA? Very slim...so he is a liar and a Hypocrite..
and will you vote for a liar or hypocrite? I would hope not.
-
There are plenty of valid reasons to not vote for Obama but this isn't one of them.
-
So Obama is saying that the McCain campaign haven't been trying to say he is a Muslim, but that other right wing smear agencies are.
And out of this you think he's saying that he is a Muslim?
And besides that why would you not accept someone of a different religion as a leader? I thought a lot of people come to the US due to our religious freedoms, not our intolerance of others.
:aok

what's broken about the healthcare system?

Agreed. It's really a non-issue.

Kaw1000 would obviously hate for any level headed individuals to think as you do.

what's broken about the healthcare system?
How about the price of prescription medicines, or the outrageous cost of treatment. Insurance company's regulate the necessity of your treatment and pay you according to what they feel like they can get away with. The system we have currently is corrupt.
The economy is in shambles? Huh. Is there a recession or something going on?
If you can't see the writing on the wall, then you must be blind. The US dollar is weak, we have sold ourselves to Foreign Oil and Chinese backers. Republican, Democrat or Independents, no matter who we elect will have to face that problem, and devise a way to over come it.
-
what's broken about the healthcare system?
10 million children this country are uninsured. Is there really any logical reason for that?
-
what's broken about the healthcare system?
I dont know if you noticed or not but we give healthcare away to non-citizens and charge Americans that can afford it outrageous fees unless they have insurance and then we all pay just like they were non-citizens. Hospitals raise their fees because insurance only pays a certain percentage and most patients (not all) never pay the remainder so hospitals elevate the fee so they come out even (and still dont get enough because of non-citizens and deadbeats). Meanwhile if you have money in the bank and need an emergency procedure and dont have insurance its going to hurt in more then one way.
There are about 75 million children in the US and about 7 million are without healthcare because our government nurtures people that make bad decisions and have children before they can afford them.
So in essence our healthcare system is broken because we allow stupid people to breed.

Ahh its ok for Obama to hang out with the likes or Jessie Jackson and Louis Farrakhan
And 20 years of going to the America hating Rev Wright's church...lol you guys beat all!!
Noooo This has nothing at all to do with the way Obama is going to run this country lolol.
-

Apparently we don't mind letting jerks breed though.

Health Insurance is a biiootch to afford, even as a student... I havn't been insured medically for quite a while now. Maybe If it were 14.95 a month I could get it :lol

Fixed.

reporter:: "obama, is you a muslem?"

I won't address the health care system, there's been enough debate on that topic over the past 8 years on this BBS regarding health care. Doesn't matter who gets in office, it will be treated the same way it has been for the last 20 elections, with kit gloves.
Regarding the weak dollar, selling ourselves to foreign oil and chinese backers, this isn't somthing that's popped up over the past 8 years. We've been heading down that path for decades.
The dollar is rising as we speak, although unemployment is high right now, for 5 years in the past 8 it was an all-time low for a 5 year period since they kept count, we've seen the stock market hit its highest mark in the past 8 years, and the tax cuts helped stave off a full-blown recession in the shadow of this nation's worse disaster, 9/11. Was it a perfect economy? Hell no. But it could have been much worse.

The first reaction of people that cant respond intelligently in debate is to go for insult. How many children do you have? :D

THanks for the correction. I always wondered what it stood for...
-
All Obama did is word his answer wrong, I'm sure he wasn't saying he is Muslim, he was just saying that McCain hadn't talked about him being a Muslim.
I don't know how people can still think he's Muslim, where's any evidence of him going to a Muslim mosque, or practicing the Muslim faith.

Shifty caught the humour. Sorry if you did not.

Agreed. Worse yet, he has damaged himself enough with being closely associated with the Rev from the United Church of Christ. I'll bet he wished his problem was just "suspect of practicing radical jihad". :rofl
