Not necessarily the top of the add list, but a worthy and interesting addition to the game the Duck would be. They saw action in both the Pacific and European landings. Useful for troops or supplies, and faster than the LVT once on land.

Ooooh.... Pretty :)

good find, isnt it just a duece and a half with a boat around it :aok good find and idea Way :rock
-
Cool ride I vote yes!. On a side note if you are ever in Philadelphia...they do local tours there in the Ducks :rock, for a coulple of bucks you get to see some landmarks and they take you out on the Delaware river in a military surplus Duck. The only annoying part is they issue tourists little duck calls .
-
They do the same thing out here somewhere. Don't know about the duck-calls though.

From what I have read I say yes. Rather than build a new vehicle from scratch they just retrofitted the duece and a halfs.
-
it was fitted with either a 50 or 30 cal. I don't know for sure but i think it was a 50, some were not fitted with any weapons
-
It'd be nicer when the town is far away and you have plenty of air cover.

I, too, think this would be a good addition.
And "duck" tours are also currently available in Boston (http://www.bostontours.us/tours/tourDetail.cfm?tour_id=334) and New York. (http://www.coachusa.com/nycducks/)
edit: The Boston vehicles are real DUKWs, but the NYC bus/boat looks a bit different from the WWII thing
-
nice stuff...any idea on how many troops could be loaded ?
on the sidenote the lvt speed is an important game mechanism IMO, anything faster could seriously change the game balance. I'm ok if that thing carries 3 troops ingame.
-
The standard weapons were either a .30 or .50, just depended on what mount was installed and they were interchangable on the gun ring which was a factory option same as the duece and a half. They could lso carry up to 24 combat armed troops in the load bed, as well as several tons of supplies.
It is the same engine and drive train as the duece and a half truck, and many of the parts are interchangable between the two vehicles.

Yup. Saw one in NYC and it didn't look anything like that one.

Thats the same thing as I did.

Hello Dear98,
Yes I saw your previous post, but it was over 30 days old so I reposted it.
Your post actually started my interest in this veboaticle. <----A whole new word that I made up myself! :D

Its slower than a LVT on water? thats possible?
I say no, LVT is faster and has more armor, making it more likely to get on land
-
Have fun traveling at snow speeds to the town, besides like I said, if you have a lot of air cover it'd be perfect.

you it can take GVs? like a jeep or light tank?

you it can take GVs? like a jeep or light tank?
necessarily no because it has no ramps or launch bay doors but in theory it could hold a jeep but that's it

The Duck boats have killed tourists here in Ketchikan, I vote no!
-
Redundant I think as it is higher profile then an lvt and probably not any faster in water but maybe so on land. I would think the armor wouldnt stop much.

oh... doesn't mean their couldn't be a ramp in the game though :noid

Unreal features of this game comes to a certain point. Your suggestion is precisely 3 miles, 60 yards, and 5 inches past that limit.
