Title: Spotter/Recon Aircraft - Coordinates
Post by: Replicant on November 03, 2001, 04:55:00 AM
Hi all

I'm not necessarily on about dedicated spotter/recon aircraft BUT how about a feature where if a friendly aircraft encounters an enemy fleet then he can click on the map to show it's last sighted position?  This doesn't update with it's movement, purely whoever had the last sighting.

Why?  Well, as HT said that Submarines will be in AH sometime next year, it would be a good feature to link recon aircraft to the submarines.  Obviously it's going to take ages for a Sub to reach the fleet but if it can at least plot a fairly accurate course then surely that would mean a lot of fun?!    :)

A compromise on this is that normal friendly aircraft cannot pinpoint the enemy fleet position, BUT dedicated recon/attack aircraft can - e.g.  Storch, Catalina etc.

Just an idea!

Wasn't the Flying Porcupine the name given to the Short Sunderland?   ;)

Well, either you simply mark the position on the map, or release a flare/bhoy at the CV location and it will appear on the map for 1 or 2 hours?

We may have to get dedicated recon planes otherwise the map marker will be no doubt abused.Maps covered in markers will drive everyone crazy. But if it means hard work,ie vulnerable to attack, to be able to mark the map you will see only those who really like doing recon, this would hopefully lead to less messing around.

Plus catalina's, sunderlands, swordfish, Fw200's and many other types could be introduced  :)

I love the idea
