Ive noticed that some of the planes in the game don't go as fast as they should. Lets say the Grumman F4F wildcat its top speed in real life is 318 mph. The fastest Ive gotten in the game was 258. Also the pony for instance its top speed in real life is 437 mph the fastest Ive ever gotten in the game was just under 400. There are some other planes too I can't think of the name of them right now but. It would be nice if HT fixed this problem.

And at just what altitude were your tests conducted at? (Heavy hint)
-
I believe that your test results may have lied to you. I have easily gotten the P-51D up to 600mph may times, and the F4F up to 400 mph.

Sheesh just drop it on his head next time. :D

for the f4f i tried it at 15k/10k & 20k. For the P-51d i tried it at 24k 5k and 15k

I'm talking about flying on auto pilot level. Not diving or nuthin

maybe inm a dive, the fastest it goes on the speed chart is like 430 at most...i know im wrong with that speed, but its much closer at its peak performance altitude than how ever high many runstangs go in game altitude wise. now, as for the f4u, iver never really looked at the speed charts, but even at 17K im just under 400mph, and i know for a fact that they went more than 400 mph.

And you understand the difference between IAS (white line) and TAS (red line)?

Which F4U? Also remember that max speed means max engine power (WEP)

Wow I never realized that the F4U4 could break 450. :O

think it was a -4, but i didnt have WEP going, and i was at 17K. 2 factors change many things there, no?

IAS and TAS.

To clarify things a little, real airspeed indicators work on air pressure. There is a pitot tube facing the front of the aircraft that records the pressure pushing against it. The faster the plane goes the more pressure there is and the higher the speed recorded. However the higher you go the less air pressure there is. This causes air speed indicators to read too low at alt, the higher you go the worse the problem is.
Like the real planes, the white needle on the AH speed indicator shows indicated airspeed and so reads low at alt. Indicated airspeed is more useful in flight anyway, since compression and flap deployment speeds are a function of this rather than true airspeed.
Because there used to be a lot of posts like your one on the BBS, HTC added a little red indicator to the dial showing true airspeed.

I think hes worse than me eh Ack-Ack? :rofl

Hehe this is a kinda funny thread, in a f4f I get a average of 300mph per flight and the P51 at around 25-30k I can get it to around 435mph.

no way you do that too!, i use a beef fan for when im in the barn working with FFA
and it sounds like a turbo prop when you turn it on :aok

FYI the graphs accessable from the hanger and from this page (http://www.hitechcreations.com/ahhelp/models/index.html) are not canned. They always reflect the speeds current with the games flight model.

Okay, who set off the numbnuts bomb in this thread?
