Those are early US stars with red dots, not chinese markings.

Also, you can kinda tell it's a mockup :)

Windows look pretty dirty...in fact the whole plane looks dirty. Nice find anyway. Were you able to touch it? Whats it made outta? Is there a new WWII movie in the making?

Speaking of movies and WW2.. December 26th is the release date for a movie called "Valkyrie" with Tom Cruise. The Warhawk Museum in Nampa, Idaho originally had an event scheduled with flight demonstrations of four P40 aircraft, including the museum's own. The event was abruptly cancelled early this summer due to the planes being used in this movie's production.

Really dumb question: did P40s even operate in the ETO?  (The film is about the assassination attempt against Hitler.)

"P-40s first saw combat with the British Commonwealth squadrons of the Desert Air Force (DAF) in the Middle East and North African campaigns, during June 1941.[2] [3] The Royal Air Force's No. 112 Squadron was among the first to operate Tomahawks, in North Africa, and the unit was the first to feature the "shark mouth" logo,[4] copying similar markings on some Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 110 twin-engine fighters."

Im sure its a total butchery of history. I wondered for a long time how they make Cruise look bigger then his 5'2" size and then I remembered the Hulk series...  :rofl

Yes, the earliest I can think of is the French (known as Hawk 75's and Hawk 81's).

Ok, no one at the studio knows nuthin bout these aircraft. All i can find out is that they are real, in bad dis-repair and were in a few pics but people at the studio that im in contact with have no idea which pics it may have been. The aircraft are also used as part of the (MGM) studio tour (I aint got time for no tour! ) other than that, they just looked cool to me! And for some reason the glass is blacked out....go figure?

and thank you tom cruise, i hate your movies :)

I must say the P-40 was a cool looking airplane. In the right hands they were a serious threat to the enemy.

In the MA, good luck dodging 17 LA's and 14 Spit16's that have P-40 radar.  But if I get a 1v1, I enjoy flying it and fighting against it.

That plane almost looks like it could be made outta some type of cloth or mesh or something. ( with a few exceptions)

But the bulk of it looks that way to me.

The way the paint and canopy looks , it looks like dusty old cloth.

Like a small gust of wind could knock it over.

I still would love to have it. Nice work.

Just sayin,

Tommy Cruise.

(I hate my movies too, but they get me hot chicks and the pay ain't bad) :aok

That plane could be seen on the Back Lot tour at Disney's MGM studio. I saw it several times.

It isn't real, but a very good mock-up that was used during the filming of  "Pearl Harbor".

There's two of these 'Pearl Harbour' replicas on display at Disneyland Paris studio tour.
