Crap. My -D40 uses at least 5 gallons before it get's its wheels off the ground. We may all have to switch to fuel efficient Zekes.

Fuel cost in aviation is probably the lesser of expenses involved.

100LL is $5.79/gal here in the PRNJ

Around here, 100LL is just over 5.50 and .50 BMG is at 4 bucks a pop.

So a P-47D-40 would cost just over $2000 to fill up with fuel, even more with drop tanks.

To top off the ammo, that would run $13,600.  A 1 second burst of fire would cost $426.

I got just enough money in the back to turn the prop once.   :rofl

I might even be able to fire 1 or 2 bullets.   Thank God for AH2.  No way could I support my warbird flying and dying on my budget.

I had to check from google to get some idea, so maybe a bit off:

In Finland 100LL is now around 2.2Eur/l thats about 3.1USD one LITRE !
.50 BMG was tough one, apparently its not widely sold because only a small group of sniper rifle enthusiastics shoot .50, so mainly only bullets for reloading purposes are sold in stores.
But i found indications that a shop sold round costs around 10-13 Eur a pop, that translates to around 14-18USD a pop.

Umm.. not to be that nit-picky.. but 'dying' would not be plural.

Then add in the expense of wing repair, aileron replacement and, of course, an new canopy with every flight and I'm thinking the numbers become seriosly outragous.

and you guys wondered why we instituted the income tax. How would tarriffs from imports have supported our war effort here in AH2? Theres no way! heck, .50 bmg? think of all the 20mm rounds! especially since the wirblewind was introduced! thats not to mention those expensive 8 inch and 5 inch rounds for the cruiser and carrier(well 5 inch and 40mm anyway.) we NEED your tax money! also dont forget how much each vehicle costs! tigers dont grow on trees! :O

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
