I figured I would pass this along. As some of you are aware, I am more than likely one of the bigger Pink Floyd fans to grace this Blue Planet.
On Monday, September 22nd (Tuesday the 23rd in the US), David Gilmour releases his "Live in Gdansk CD" (from August of 2006). It was held on the very dockyards that Lech Walesa started Solidarity;. I took my wife to see him in Toronto Canada (as I live in Detroit) and it blew the 3 previous PF concerts out of the water.
Zbigniew Preisner led the Polish Baltic Philharmonic (on his album On an Island) and this performance was anything short of magical. Leszek Mozdzer played on piano as well.
Here is the CD Cover: (look below the Stage in the lights) and this setup was built solely for this performance.

He played "A Great Day for Freedom" as a tribute to Lech (who was on hand for this performance) and Solidarity. It is my favorite version of the tune (I saw PF twice in 1994 at the Pontiac Silverdome [the 2nd show being the first time they played Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety since 1975]) and with Zbigniew's exceptional handling of the orchestra, creates the perfect compliment to the song.)
Also in the 22nd, the concert will be screened at MANY Movie Theaters nationwide. I'll be attending, even though I saw him a few months prior to this concert back in 2006. But, hearing Echoes, Fat Old Sun and Shine On You Crazy Diamond in surround and loud, will be worth it for me.
