For those of us that were personally involved, be it in recovery efforts, security patrols, and most importantly those who lost loved ones, it is something we will never forget. :(

To this day, I turn off any show that has footage of it.  It pisses me off, and haunts me at the same time.

I get about two minutes into this video and I want blood...Radical Muslim blood.

I am getting ready to go out on a PGR mission right now. A retired Navy NCO is being laid to rest today. It's somehow fitting yet doubly sad.

I will forever have that Enya song, Only Time, associated with 9-11 because of a well done video clip.

For those who lost their lives on this day seven years ago and for those who have gave the ultimate sacrifice since.

I don't think I could ever forget. I was just shocked by the horror of that day.
Add to that the ultimate impact that 9-11 eventually had on my family.
There's no way I'll ever forget, I'm reminded every time I look at my son.

RIP to all who perished that day.

May their loved ones be blessed with peace.

Salute to all who have fallen since, and to all those who stood back up.

I didn't know anyone who was killed that day, I was part of the Coast Guards response to New York and arrived the early evening of the 12th. Conducted 24/7 security/recovery ops 10 minutes after we arrived and sustained those ops for the next 45 days. I took supplies into ground zero for the recovery teams and watched bodies being removed from the pile. During what time I had off from work, I attended over a dozen funerals for firemen and police officers killed in the line of duty.

I was only doing my job, but if you were there and saw it all first hand, you can't forget, like I'll never forget.

I hate this day.

HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN
By Darryl Worley
(Video: http://www.videocure.com/music-video-code/d/0fb25f8124f3b731be45665af4b7f9b5.html)

VERSE 1:
I hear people saying…we don’t need this war…
But I say there’s some things worth fightin’ for…
What about our freedom…and this piece of ground…
We didn’t get to keep ‘em …from backin’ down….

They say we don’t realize the mess we’re getting in…
Before you start your preachin’…let me ask you this my friend….

CHORUS:
Have you forgotten…how it felt that day…
To see your homeland under fire…and her people blown away…
Have you forgotten…when those towers fell…
We had neighbors still inside…goin’ thru a living hell….
And you say we shouldn’t worry ‘bout Bin Laden…
Have you forgotten?

VERSE 2:
They took all the footage…off my TV…
Said it’s too disturbing…for you and me…….
It’ll just breed anger…that’s what the experts say…
If it was up to me I’d show it every day….

Some say this country’s out lookin’ for a fight…
After 9-11…I’d have to say that’s right….

(CHORUS)   …and we vowed to get the one’s behind Bin Laden…

Bridge:
I’ve been there with the soldiers…who’ve gone away to war….
And you can bet that they remember…just what they’re fighting for….

CHORUS:
Have you forgotten….all the people killed…
Yes some went down like heroes…in that Pennsylvania field…
Have you forgotten…about our Pentagon…
All the loved ones that we lost…and those left to carry on…
Don’t you tell me not to worry ‘bout Bin Laden….
Have you forgotten…
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

And you may take a listen to my own modest effort to honor those who honor us by their continuing sacrifice, "What of Them", at www.myspace.com/richowen61 .

For me this newsflash of Palestinians celebrating 911 was the most outrageous in that day:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rmo64fcvKs0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rmo64fcvKs0)

And now:
"President Bush has proposed a sixfold increase in aid to the Palestinians, including $150 million in direct cash transfers to the Palestinian Authority, in an effort to bolster the government in advance of a Middle East peace conference planned for later this month in Annapolis.
The $435 million in additional aid, on top of $77 million requested earlier this year, has attracted little notice..."

Did it bother you when the Republican convention used footage of it, the most graphic footage of the explosions, stuff that the networks had agreed to now "leave in the can"?

Did you find it base and callow and did you turn the convention off?

MSNBC?!?!?!?   I guess they are ignoring Olbermann's concerns about airing that footage.  I wonder if he will be issuing a public statement to distance himself from the network.

I'll never forget watching that second plane hit the tower as I watched CNN's live feed, or the horror I felt as I watched first one, then the second tower fall, again on CNN's live feed. I'll never forget seeing people jump from the towers rather than burn to death. I'll never forget this video either.....

I was at school, preparing to teach my first class of the day when a fellow teacher came in and informed me of what was going on.  The rest of the day was marked by extreme frustration because the school's cable system was down.  I had an old set of rabbit-ear antennae that I hooked up to a small set in my room, but the reception was lousy.  When the towers came down, we could barely tell what was happening.

That night, while the wife and I were watching the news, my mother called.  She told me that a former history student of mine, Deena Burchfield, had lost her husband on flight 93.  I knew her entire family;  had attended school with her cousins, one of whom had been MY history teacher in high school.  You know her as Deena Burnett.

I cried like a baby.
