Title: My First Video, Be Easy On Me
Post by: lowZX14 on September 11, 2008, 08:17:23 AM
Alright ladies & gentlemen, boys & girls.

Here is my very first video.  It's not much and I know I need some work, but I'm proud of it none the less.

Tell me what you think.

On the contrary, I thought he did rather well for a first timer.

He showed me the action (which is important to keep the audience watching) and he had very decent camera shots and angles. I didn't care for that moron shouting at me while I was watching the film though, I felt the atmosphere would've been more inviting if you had panned out that, "singer."

Keep working with it man! My only suggestions: Try to find some soundtracks (not music) that would go well with a film. Use more sound-effects to immerse the viewer in the experience (make it seem as if the guns are firing, the bullets are hitting, and the planes are falling apart.) And lastly keep up the frame rates! This film had very decent frame rates, don't attempt to sacrifice it in the future to make a, "better," presentation. :aok

Thanks guys.  I wasn't sure about that song, I like it and am going to look for some soundtracks in the future.

As far as putting the sounds with it, I have to play with it more to get them in with the music also.

The frame rates are all I have, I maxed everything out from what I could tell.  I used the recorded video, then streamed it to avi through the film viewer, and when I did that, I put the frame rate at 30 which is the highest it would let me.  Got bad news about a new comp, I was reminded last night that we are going to buy a heat pump instead of using oil, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  :furious :cry
But, hopefully I can ask for one for my birthday next month, or at least some money to go towards it, then the frame rates will be better, plus I'll be able to run FRAPS.

If you can export it through the FV that's good enough. You don't get anything special recording it with FRAPS.

Ok, well at least I'll have a better video card and CPU if I can get the new comp.

Awsum job, don't care for the music so much but angles were great, a suggestion i would have is that rather then getting film of hit sprites from out side and behind attacking aircraft try a few shots from the site zoomed in nice and tight to see hits on target aircraft.

"Fraps" is easier to use and gives you many more options as you can film what ever you have on the screen.

"virtualdub" is a free avi editing software with many handy addons and effects.

"Audacity" is a free sound editing program that is awsum.

These are the three programs i use primarily. The camara shots feature of the film veiwer is great too, you have to play with it to get the hang of it but it is well worth the time to learn it.

Just beware keeping alot of AVI. files around as they are massive in size and will slow your computer to a crawl.

if i can help you out let me know.

Welcome to your new addiction :aok

I love the song, but thats the really bad version. There's a 2nd version of Shipping Up to Boston that I was gonna use for a video.

Thanks for the input and the kind words gentlemen.   :salute

Thanks yanksfan for the info on the programs, I'll have to check those out.  As for the song, it's one of those you either love or hate, I just happen to like the rhythm of the song and thought it would go well with the movie.  I have to watch what programs I put on my computer since it is not the fastest in the world.

Thanks 1pLUs, I didn't know there is a 2nd version of Shipping Up to Boston, I'm going to have to find that one now.  I just love Dropkick Murphy's, after I went to Boston and have some friends from up there, they got me hooked.

I am bringing in this new addiction, it has helped me with my AH withdrawals, hopefully I'll get my fix next Wednesday if we can get back home.

Yea, the 2nd version sounds quite a bit different, it starts with guitar, and IMO, it beats the crud out of the first one.  :aok

Yup, maybe if I get some more of the Guns' films, we can do a joint HG/Playmates video.
