Just a question to HTC. The way it looks it seems that the hurricane is going to hit Texas. My question is If the hurricane dose get close and HTC members have to leave will the game still be up? And is there any chance that some how the game could go down because of the storm.

Yeah, I hope all the AH folks get the heck out of dodge with their families and bugger the game.
Im no expert but Im willing to bet a Hurricane can not only take out the game but also the entire county the games servers are located at.

That's just prove that van lives for AH :lol :).

HTC is in Dallas. They may lose some power due to thunderstorms but they don't need to evacuate. It's all of us poor Houstonians that have to leave.

Would be real nice if my in-laws left Houston. Visit with the Grandkids would be welcomed, and they'd be out of there for the weekend (and the hurricane).

In 1977, my family was trapped on Key West in our van, when Hurricane Babe started and moved West. This was before going to DisneyWorld. It is one of my earliest recollections as I was 4 years old and remember it, like it happened yesterday.

Dude, HTC is like 400 miles inland, I seriously doubt it. If they were having to evacuate, I'd have to do it first as I live much closer to the sea than them.

you guys really need official intel .

My Cod, the SCOTCH!! HiTech forgot the SCOTCH! We're doomed.
-
I was born and raised in Corpus Christi. Hurricanes are a source of concern, but the real danger of a storm like this one, is the potential trailing tornadoes it will drag across the state along with the amount of rain.
This monster can cover half the state of Texas and still get its feed from the Gulf. Reminds me of Carla in 61, and a little like Beulah in 67. Beulah spawned 100+ tornadoes, in her wake, once she made landfall. Like Beulah, Ike is moving slow and carrying a big stick.

Skuzzy and HTC staff hope everything turns out fine.

If they do lose power,, Pro rate my money. :furious :furious

<--- bout 60 inland from Galveston... Hope everyone here stays safe, gotten plenty of beer and food!

-
Best of luck to everyone in the path of Ike.
-
The Latest NWS track has Ike down to a Tropical Depression and passing well East of the DFW area, close to the AR/LA/TX border on Late Sunday-Early Monday. I would expect a large wind/rain event in the "Metroplex" that falls short of a tropical storm.
To those on the Texas Gulf coast... I pray for your safety.
-
From what it looks like is suppose to curve up north in the next couple days.
:salute, hope everyone will be safe and best wishes to the people in the path.

Godspeed Texas

All the best bnasty. We're in Sugar Land and are hunkering down as well. First Hurricane for the wife and kids. It'll be a doozy for them I think. Get's a little frightening when the house and windows literally shake from the winds and that for 6-10 hours sustained.
Unbelievably there are still people on Galveston and surrounding coastal communities. The storm surge from Ike is going to be really bad. Winds picking up a bit but tonight after dinner is when it's going to start to get really exciting! I'll probably try and play online for awhile before we lose power!

what part of sugar land, I'm at HWy 6 and old richmond, north side. I've been through a couple hurricanes a bunch of tornados so i'm not to worried. some of us usually head to the island 3 days before this stuff, weren't able to this time and missed some decent surf.

Downtown Houston is Closed, catestophic damage... 2.8 million still without power. Mongomery County (Conroe area) will not have power for 2-4 weeks, due to Catesrophic power failure (think a sub-station is gone)... I heard 3 dead in Galveston, not confirmed officially. I have power in Katy Tx, though my Parents do not (Fulshear, TX). NO Ice anywhere, barely any gas, Lines are outta hand. Thank goodness I filled up before this all hit.
Worst part is we slammed by a nasty storm front last night, Bringing more rain than the hurricaine did... Which flooded most of the Houston area and surrounding areas even more. People were trapped in Houston homes because of Bayou Flooding and downed trees blocking streets.
Thansk for the toughts, concerns, calls, and comments!! More to come, gotta clean up.
:salute
Mathis
Edit: As far as my House damage; Shingles ripped off roof, minor Leaking now. Fence is bent in, thankfully not down though. Satelite dish is bent to pieces, so no TV for 2 weeks or more. Garage Door broken, should be fixable.

:salute bmathis Thanks for the update, sounds rough. Take care!
-
Glad to hear you fared relatively well bmathis.
My In-Laws are in Highlands (over between Baytown & Crosby). Their land used to be filled with giant pecan trees, which are now all over the land & the house. TxDad took our teenager there to help with the clean up. They still don't have power, but have a generator. So as far as they're concerned they're in high cotton.
