I know they're alot of TS price packages out there. Anyone here mind giving me a heads up on what to purchase? I'm in the process of getting a TS server for our squadron which is on the verge of seeing potential growth rapidly. We currently stand at 10+ members and are increasing steadly.
Can anyone give some advise on what to look for when buying? I'd like to buy a 20 player server. Thanks! :salute

They making you pay for TS now?

You talking about hardware? wouldnt worry much about hardware, any modern pc that is dedicated solely to this purpose would do really. Your focus should be on getting a static IP adress and or a domain name for it, so ppl have a easy time connecting to your server tough.

Uhm, you can host your own server.... for free.

If you're gonna pay I'd use Ventrilo instead.

Amen to that one.

Why pay for Ventrilo or Teamspeak when AH has built in vox?

Thats the thing I never understood.

TeamSpeak is free. If you use it, use the Speex 25.1 setting. It is high quality, not the CELP 5.1.

TS is only free to a certain point, if you want to run a TS server, you have to pay monies. At least that is my understanding of how it works.

Teamspeak is generally sold by usage slots.
There are many plans out there that start at the 10 slot level, some maybe lower numbers. What it means is that on a 10 slot server you can have 10 people online and talking at once. You can have as many people registered to use your server as you want, but only 10 can be using the server at once.
Check around, if your squad does in fact grow quickly, you may want to sign for a service that works off payments submitted by the members.
Underground Tournaments uses this type of system. What they do is to set up an account where funds can be deposited. The account is paid out of that fund.

This outfit has generously donated Teamspeak servers to teams in the the scenarios on occasion. Not a bad way to go!
