Fun frame! III/Jagdgescwader 11 was tasked with defending field A10 in Fw190A5's. We met the muppets in La5's and 2/3's of the squad engaged while Fencer took a group to find the bombers. After a short fight with some of the muppets, we attempted to get back to 10 to fend off the bombers, and were quickly overwhelmed by hordes of Ivans. Got some cool screens, though!
On the runway...

First (non-fatal) shot at Agent360's La5...

Second (again, innefectual) shot on Wax's La5.

Another angle...

I got hit with two rounds the entire frame. One with from the engagement with the muppets and the other... a 37mm hit from a Yakovlev 9T right in my cockpit... from 600 yards. What luck.

Yup, we were absolutely mauled at A10. :lol All I can remember of how I died was being surrounded by a sea of red. What was it, 12 of us against La-5s, Yaks, P-39s, Il-2s and B-25s? :rofl
-
Yup, it was a pretty short night, for an FSO. First we tangled with those high La-5s. Then, a bunch of Yaks escorting Il-2s. Then, some P-39s joined in. Finally, some B-25s.
I think it was one of the Yaks that finally took off my wing low over A10 as I tried to get an Il-2, and I bailed out. While walking back to A10, I saw about twenty La-5s and Il-2s leaving a A10, which was wrecked from end to end.
Oh, well. At least the Vast Eastern Horde was well-played by our adversaries. ;)

Yea, 353rd face the same faith. 12 of us agenst La, Yaks, and 39. I say it was a 7:1.

I think most of us had that problem. I know my squad did. My wingman and myself were flying at 20-22k as scouts. I almost had a heart attack when I saw the 20+ La's and P-39s turning to engage the two of us. They made quick work of us, and took out the rest of our squad. Only 3 out of 11 made it back. But at least the bombers hit target. :aok

Great screen shots Motherland. :aok
Mongrels took off out of A4 (14 IL2's and 3 of our guys in Yak's) and pretty much followed the flight path below (red).

About 1/2 way to target we spotted some NOE Stuka's just a few hundred yards off our left wing. :O Yak's engaged and downed a couple of them. All the IL2 pilots, myself included were REALLY tempted to go after the Stukas, but we stayed on path to our target. Good thing too, because over head were about 18 enemy Me-109's and they never spotted us. I only found out the 109's were over head because of reviewing my film. Had we went after the Stuka's I am sure the 109's would have come down and killed us all.
We made it to A10 and leveled the field. We were told to go after the hangers and took out 6 of them with lots of help from 880th, Nightmares, and muppets who did a sweep prior to our coming in. Over all A10 was leveled. We did not lose any IL2's.

Those 109s over your head turned out to be the AKs sweeping for the stukas. Claim Jumpers engaged the 109s in our mixed bag of 39ds 39qs and yak-9ts. We got massacred. Only 2 of our q models were able to engage the stukas over v31. We hoped we could get enough 109s down that Aces & 8s could clean up the leftovers....turns out we were the leftovers. :cry

That was my bad planning guys. I forgot the "human factor" and didn't ask for a roll call, or member numbers attending the events, so I could have placed our guys in better position of advantage.
Given the opponents and numbers you guys faced, you did an outstanding job and I salute you.

SkyRock took off my right aileron and elevator coming in fast from co-alt 8 o'clock when I was looking the other way. He made the nicest little dive in from below so I wouldn't see, not that I was looking his way...
After being relieved of that big chunk of metal I was reduced to flying target drone. Worked into a couple angle shots but just couldn't keep up with the La5s with only one elevator. Mustaine came in to relieve me of my left aileron as well, shortly thereafter the right wing departed from the airframe, guess it must have felt stressed out. :(
So I hit the silk, watching in frustration as the red horde came down upon A10, shaking my fist at them and emptying the .45 in anger, to no effect.
It is FSO. It is FUN. Or so I tell myself on nights like that one. :D No ups without downs, it's the truth u know it!
Nice meeting you SkyRock and Mustaine.
