Title: Axel.dav
Post by: TheMan on September 13, 2008, 12:35:01 PM
Hello everyone , Awile ago my computer wouldn't load windows. Nothing was coming up. So I did a windows restore , but not the normal type. This was the only one I was able to do , it deletes alot of crap and what not. Anyways , I log on get everything running again. Good and all start playing aces and I was done with it. Well , now that I have looked , I have a file that says axel.dav in practically every file on my computer. As soon as I find them I delete them. I tried some research on the internet about them , but little detail is there. Im thinking definately this is a hard cor virus. I got crap thats in my D-Drive and C-Drive , with very peculiar file names , that I cant delete because it says it is being used by another person or program. So I played with task manager and still wouldnt let me delete this one file. I ran boot scans and virus scans and virus removel tools and that doesnt clean out this weird file I found on C-Drive or the Axels. I dont understand it. Another thing thats wrong is before system restore , when windows wouldnt come up , my computer was fine. Then one day I logged on to computer , and the windows wouldnt show up. And now I have another problem. Pages on the internet dont come up. I think that there was something that went wrong in the system restore , added this axel file and alot more toejam and gave me this wonderful domino effect of disaster. I've tried everything , Any idears?

Sounds like something I once had. I named it the, "Time Machine Virus." Check you date and time, it set mine back to 1872 preventing me from accessing the Internet and basically locking down my system. This type of virus got my comp through a RAM transfer. Yes, it was a hardware virus.

If you can, try using this scanner:

http://safety.live.com

It eliminated the virus for me, and it sounds like you have something similar.

(NOTE: If it finds the files but can't clean them. Look at their location. Most likely you can go to that area of your computer and erase the files yourself.)

if i have a file that i can not delete i use a program called bcwipe (its a file shredder). if u delete the file with this program and it wont delete it, it gives you the option to delete at start up before the file is loaded.

http://www.jetico.com/download.htm   (BCWipe v.3.11.6)

if i remember u get 30 days trial.(if not 30days pm me for a solution)
