I was actually shocked that McCain didnt offer the VP spot to Hillary. It would be completely in character if he had.

I thought it was great.   :lol

It occured to me later though that they probably intended a slight towards Palin regarding the foreign diplomacy issue when Tina said "I can see Russia from my house". At first I took it to be an understated indication that she understood that the world beyond our shores presents a very real threat. Then I realized that the writers of SNL probably don't think that way and were simply ridiculing Palin.

Ask the Georgians if they could see Russia from their houses.

Yeah, they generally do their best to take the unfunny route.  Which is an odd choice for a comedy show.

I'm still surprised SNL is still on. It has had a few funny skits here and there but it was in its golden age when John, Dan, Jane, and Eddie were regulars on there.

Its a pale shadow of what it once was.

Typical Tina Fey Republican bashing.

Palin portrayed as an idiot while Hillary deserving the Presidency but screwed over because of sexism.

Not really funny.

They were not exactly flattering with Hillary in the skit either.  Best thing is not to take SNL personal.  They do a pretty fair job all things considered of making fun of everyone equally.

Absolutely right except for the not funny part. You gotta be able to laugh at yourself. Doesn't legitamize the criticism.

It's called political SATIRE for a reason. It was a grand slam skit.

I didn't think it was all that funny. I haven't liked Tina Fey or SNL for years.

The show tends to be to far left in their humor and it seems to be over the top when they go after someone to the right of Clinton.

I think I have seen it all now, "SNL bashed my guy worse than your guy" no fair!!!.

I personally think that Hillary got the worst of it in that skit, but Tina Fey nailed the part far better.

I don't have a guy in this race. I don't like either side but I still have to chose one over the other.

BTW I have to disagree about who looked better. They made Palin out to be an idiot and not fit for office while they made Hillary look qualified but bitter about being cheated out of winning.

Funny.  I think I've heard every generation claim thiers was the best SNL cast.  I find great bits from almost any of the cast runs though.

My SNL greats are Farley, Carvey, Myers, David Spade, Adam Sandler, etc from the late 80's into the early 90s.  Good times staying up late to watch.

Palin may very well be an idiot and not fit for the VP's office, I suspect she is but I don't know yet for sure.

I will admit that my intense dislike of Hillary does cloud my objectivity at times.

The Real Sarah Palin Laughs Along With Tina Fey’s Impression

From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

The true extent to which Palin-mania has come to dominate the TV news cycle hit home for me last night as I flipped through the channels on the Palin campaign’s charter flight from Reno to Denver. Within a period of about a half hour, I caught the much-anticipated debut of Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night,” as well as seperate Palin documentaries on MSNBC and CNN.

Tina Fey was such a dead ringer for Palin that I was tempted to open the curtains that separate the governor and her staff from the media to make sure she was still on the plane and hadn’t managed to sneak off to Manhattan to appear live on the show.

One of the more biting pieces of satire came at the beginning of the sketch when Amy Poehler’s rendition of Hillary Clinton standing beside Palin said, "I believe that diplomacy should be the cornerstone of any foreign policy.”

"And I can see Russia from my house,” Fey as Palin replied.

According to her spokesperson Tracey Schmitt, the real Sarah Palin had a good laugh along with the press corps in the back of the plane and millions of Americans at home.

“She thought it was quite funny, particularly because she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween,” Schmitt said.

The more I see her reactions to the real world, the more convinced I am she actually comes from the real world.

A refreshing change from the space alien occupiers on Capitol Hill.

Funny, I see plenty of normal human qualities in Capitol Hill all the time:

Greed
Infidelity
Cronyism

Where do you get your political information, sci fi channel?

SNL has sucked ever since the original cast either moved on or died. The humor just isn't the same quality. I've tried to watch it, I've wanted it to be as good. It just isn't.

I couldn't care less about how SNL portrays candidates, and if it matters to a voter, they shouldn't be voting.

What I found amusing is how Chevy Chase is groveling to Tina Fey (whoever she is) to "destroy" Sarah Palin.

I love how Conservatives seem to get so worked up about satire and other political humor... you'd think Stephen Colbert would have been burned on a stake by now :lol

True, SNL died after the original cast; I stopped watching long ago.

This skit is the best thing I've seen in a long time though.  It rates up there with "D!(* in a Box".

What Hangtime said, though I might pay to see Colbert do his satire on a  burning stake.
