What is this measureing and how is it important? I was looking through the scores and found that I had finished Number 8 in kill hit percentage last tour mid war. I'd like to know what I'm doing right??? :D

it would seem that you(unlike me) are hitting what you're shooting at?

Kill hit percentage is just the measure how many bullets hit their mark. In Fighter Mode, only hits vs. enemy players do count, hitting structures counts as "miss".
In Attack Mode, both hits vs structures as well as planes & GVs do count.
And it's only as important as you take it ;)
Looking at another players hit% can give you a general impression of his marksmanship skill, but not much more. Hit% depends on a lot of factors, favored ride, playing/fighting style etc. My own hit % varies by up to 50% from tour to tour depending on what planes I'm flying.
Kill points are the total points of damage inflicted on your enemies plus 1 additional point per kill. Shooting bombers gets you a lot of kill points because there's a lot to damage.
-
From a gamey stand point if you up in fighter and straff gv's your hit % will go way up...provided your hitting them. But if you look up my hit% from pass tours you will see that I don't do that....lol. You can also help your hit% by shooting down bombers. I flew a 205 alot and if I killed mainly bombers my % would improve.

Only if you do it in attack mode. If you hit anything beside an enemy plane in fighter mode it's a miss.

Try it out had a former squadie do it all the time....he could get his hit% to over .4 (and put him in the top of fighter hit%)where mine on a good month would be in the .11 range.

I'm used to aim what I shot, and when possible I aim a single aircraft part, for bombers the 2nd engine wich will ripp the wing, most fighters the tail where 2 or 3 hits will ripp V stabs away and when in close turns directly in pilot cockpit giving him a PK.
If I understood well the kill point don't are counted on the "kills" but on the number of damage you give to your opponent before you kill him?
So, instead of a short and aimed hit at D250 (my guns convergence) I should set up the convergence to 2K so I can keep hitting him ripping off all parts and giving him full engine, oil, radiator damage?

Exactly. And you don't even need to kill him to get the points.

If score points are that important to you, it would probably increase the score points to some extend. Downside: Your hit% will drop considerably, and you're not going to kill quick and effectively.
If you're really looking to get as much score points as possible (for whatever reason), go buff hunting. Many a tour I was (inadvertently) #1 in scorepoints while having only half the kills of some other players.
-
I wouldn't recommend buff-hunting for a high fighter score, unless you can find lots of bombers at low altitude, and that's not likely. Some of the top pilots easily get more than 10 kills/hour, and you're not going to come close to that engaging B-24's at 15K+.
