According to Karl Rove, John McCain's war injuries are so great he
has no control over his hands. (http://blogs.reuters.com/trail08/2008/09/14/karl-rove-says-mccain-obama-have-gone-too-far/)
To be fair he also said McCain may have kinda sorta itsy bitsy teeny weenie stretched the truth a bit.

You know, you'd think there's a way that the Democratic camp could somehow find a way to use this-But Karl Rove's integrity is so compromised, not even the neo-cons believe him anymore. Anything that guy says is immediately suspect, even if he claims the sky is blue.
-
That's why he fits in so well at Fox... a talking sphincter to balance the talking heads.

He'll continue to get jobs' with some. I didn't say all the neocons. My guess is, anybody he is involved with, will do their damndest to keep him out of public view.

Why is it then that the Demos pay so much attention to him?

IMHO, i'm afraid that his biggest value anymore is for propaganda. With the way modern elections' sling mud like a Jerry Springer telethon in a Trailer park, It will take some time for them to quit mentioning his name.
It helps' to hide the real issues, you see...

As far as his physical health, I could care less if the guy could type.
I do however, wonder why the left side of his face(HIS left side, right side in pictures) seems to have a bulge that gets larger, by his jawbone. McCain, being a cancer survivor 3x (4x??) now, that particular area is a hotbed for regrowth due to the amount of vascularization particular to the area. Prior to election day, I would very much like to see him get a complete update of his physical, which we all know won't happen anyway, or, better said, won't be released in entirety. The other night at the "Service" forum, it seemed the whole side of his face had started to swell, and it was the worst I had seen it...two other people watching the debate with me made comments on it.
I have serious questions on whether he is free of metastatic cells.

Older pic, but you can see a difference from one side to the other.

He chews red man tobacco......

The left side of his face looks like that because he had surgery to remove some lymph nodes and part of a salivary gland in case his melanoma on his temple had spread there. Turns out it had not.
His skin cancer is also the reason he is very careful about staying out of the sun -- he's pale and typically wears a hat or cap if he's outside at all.

I know about his surgery. I also know alot about cancer. (my master's thesis was tumor development in Chelonia midas, which is not directly applicable in all cases (different immuno-response species wise, but does have relevance.) The observed change in pressure to the region is not completely indicative of either metastastatic cells, nor the eradication of his melanoma. It could very well be that his surgeon somewhat "botched" his initial surgery (or found something deeper than he expected and removed more), and went into deep muscle tissue that he should not have, causing some compartmentalization. The changes to that area could very well be accounted for in this. Prudence begs the caution though.... the swelling could also be the vascularization of tumors missed, or even created via the previous surgery. It only takes one cell shaken off the initial tumor to regrow, depending on type. The area does noticeably swell and shrink quite frequently....I'm simply saying it is a question in my own mind, from my experience.
I'm not sold on his cancer-free statement.
-
He had a radical exploratory dissection. They took > 30 lymph nodes, salivary gland and soft tissue over the masseter muscle. The puffiness is a combination of scar tissue, prominence of the masseter and impeded lymph drainage. According to the histopath they got clean margins on the tumor and there was no cancer in the sentinel node or surrounding tissue. At 8 years out he's still free of recurrence, hardly a "botched" surgery when your dealing with invasive melanoma. Although I'm sure the doctors at the Mayo clinic would appreciate your second opinion based on your turtle expertise.
Of course he could have a recurrence tomorrow. And Obama could choke to death on a piece of steak tonight.

As usual, the direct attack on me, personally, for having a differing view on facts. My experience notwithstanding, and I never claimed to be an oncologist, there is a distinctly higher possibility that McCain relapses than someone choking. The swelling that changes on his face could result from impeded lymph drainage, as well, it could be the initial vestiges of new tumor formation. Clear margins notwithstanding, there isn't an oncologist worth his salt that declares unequivocally "We got it all." It's simply not possible, when dealing on the single cellular level. A few cells always slough off during tumor removal, the question on whether they remain viably intact is the mitigating circumstance. In my family, I've been witness to this exact probability. You just can't get all of it, it's up to your immune system to target those cells that separate during removal.

we are all mortal, as are all the candidates, thru out history, some survive, some do not, nowere in the rules does it say he must be cancer free to be president.

Dewd.....layman's terms please....that is rather painful to read. :D

It does however say you need to win the election. 270+
The people will decide the ultimate qualifications.

You claim to know alot, yet do not know that a lot is two words. Interesting....

Yeah, I'm a bastard that way.
Try not to take it personally.

Pardon my space bar. It is feisty.

Yeah, I'm a bastard that way.

Nothing personal... It is laughable. Just notice I didn't jump all over you. There's a difference between constructive debate and what most republicans do. Both of us could be right or wrong, you were the one who decided I was wrong enough to belittle. Your weakness, not mine.
-
Both of us could be right or wrong, you were the one who decided I was wrong enough to belittle.
Actually only one of us could be right and that would be me, but that's beside the point. I only responded because you implied a bunch of hard-working doctors and nurses "botched" a surgery in the process of saving the man's life, an implication based solely on rank speculation.
and experience with turtles

I am ashamed to admit that I can only appreciate myelo when he is trashing the people I think are pompous idiots.
I am assuming in this case that he knows something about the medical field and this operation. In any case.. it can't be less than scuba boy.
lazs
-
I'm still looking for the "personal attack" that caused so much angst.
There was nothing personal in there; the charge has to be the response to a bruised ego as far as I can see. Not uncommon in that particular poster either; switching to the aggrieved party after his bombast is defused.
-
what did I miss?? what did I miss??
-
I never realized what a perfectly descriptive word "bombast" was until it was used to describe moray.

Try not to take an attack on his character personally?
The second time was more like "held under till the bubbles stopped". :rofl
Lamers.
-
There was no "attack on his character".
-
No worries... I can handle it. Your defensive need to attack someone personally is a result of your own insecurities.

Since when is pointing out that someone is wrong a "personal attack?"

'Will the real Dr Moray please report to neurosurgery...'
-
So does Moray think Myelo is republican?
-
damn. scuba boy got dunked.

-
How can someone screw something up so completley?
Rove explained McCain has trouble typing, he never said McCain has no control over his arms or hands.
He also said McCain uses the computer, he can click the mouse on things, and is competent getting emails and using the email, just has trouble typing due to arthritis.
Freaking panicking by the demodummies.
-
So does Moray think Myelo is republican?
I don't see Republican or Democrat. Conservative or liberal. American or European, religious or atheist, gay or straight, male or female. As I look upon the sea of shining faces that is the O'club I see only individual human beings, each with unique gifts to offer in their own special way
... and then I personally attack them.
-
I see individualists and.... everyone else.
Everyone else is immoral. there are some who are in the "everyone else" who are less immoral or less efficient at being immoral.. an "everyone else" who doesn't vote and has no power is ok in my book for instance.
Most of the people I align myself with are not true individualists.. they are just ten times better than the ones they oppose.. blue and red kinda deal.. I support the red guys for now.. until they get worse than the blue guys of course.
I am pragmatic about it.

oh wow, this suppoused to try and hurt my feelings?
this thread didn't make it very far before falling apart into the "no your a poopyhead" phase of o'club threads. it was d00med.

You wanted to be the first kid on your block with a confirmed personal attack?
-
Hilarity ensues.
The death of rational thought is upon us when debate returns to the calling of names.
-
It's the second rule of O'club! Right after the first rule of blaming the others for the countries ills. Everyone knows that!
[/sarcasim]
I've seen some good debates on here but like good fights in the MAs, they are few and far between sometimes.
-
moray.. I agree that debate should not include name calling but even you have to admit that.. well.. you are a poopyhead.. and a sensitive and vitriolic one at that.. I mean.. you can't really have a debate and ignore those facts.
