Kinda like scrappin' the Academy Awards and replacing it with The Paramount Studios Awards.

Well, Nash hit it on the head...but I will say this, Congrats WB's! Look out behind ya! AH is only a year old.

Rubber bullits. Sounds like what you are looking for.

I pay for the best product..... I have played warbirds and still do from time to time to see if it has or is improving.
I don't see how the two are even in the same class, I am not brand loyal and I don't mean that to sound disloyal but the best product gets my buck and that ain't the best product.
Thats my opinion and until something better is out there my cash stays here and thats the bottom line.
On a side note at this point with V5 looming I don't see how some will ever catch up but by all means try.

Hehe easymo - took me a second, but I got it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Funny thing was... having a look on the WB's BBS and, instead of the ever present Dogfighter.com ad hovering at the top, it was replaced. The new banner simply said "Winner".
phhhht.
Dogfighter selects WBs as best online sim, WB attracts new customers. New customers go to the WB's BBS site, click on Dogfighter banner, and earns Dogfighter increased revenue.
Inbred or what?
---edit---
Anyone wanna bet that WWII-Online wins this prestigeous award hands down next year? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Dogfighter
WarBirds
This year has really seen a boon in online massively multiplayer game development, an area where flight simulations were the early pioneers. 2000 saw HiTech Creations's Aces High move out of Beta testing and into paid production, continued development of Kesmai's Air Warrior, the unfortunate demise of Simguild's Battle of Britain and Flying Circus, new updates for Microsoft's Fighter Ace II, plus the continued support of iEN's WarBirds, Dawn of Aces and Fighter Ops. A very close contest between AH and WB ultimately led to the nomination of WarBirds as the best online flight sim of the year. While the issue of best damage and flight modelling is a hotly contested issue amongst players, the expansive plane set,
MG's INFLUENCE---------------> Macintosh compatibility[/i],
And thanks to Hitech Creations------------------> new pricing scheme,
End of the $2.00 and Hour Tyranny!!!
and large community activity surrounding iEN's title (along with a much anticipated new release in the wings which will have a complete graphics overhaul) ultimately led to WarBirds' achievement.
I think that Dogfighter is pretty unbiased right now, and in short I have to concur with their reasons, the above differences can easily be overcome by HTC during the next year. Even though providing a MAC Version would invite MG in.

Ah yes, a website that promotes WB and has a WB message board while it's members fly WB and if they come to AH it's more than likely on a 2 week trial period.
So, essentially we can nominate ourselves as the best sim of 2000 just like them. YES!
I hereby declare AH the best prop sim of 2000. Now lets all give ourselves a big pat on the back.....
<has a curious look on his face while scratching his left testicle>

ps: I FLEW WB, now I fly AH. I follow the best product and this ones got me hooked. DogfighterNetwork can nominate WB all it wants, I'm still not taking a second look.

I used to fly WB's, for four years. Some of the reasons...er the only reason I can see that an outside source such as Dogfighter would edge it ahead is that it DOES have MAC capability. But other than that.........it doesnt compare. So I can only put it down to Dogfiter being a not so AH friendly place....not a good thing for a webpage that is suppose to represent all flight sim...no?
I'm with RedWolf on this one. I second the nomination for AH being the number one Sim around.
LLB OUT!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah... that make sense. Give it to WB based on what they might get in 2001.
Wonder if the guys at IEN got sore knees and brown sticky stuff on their noses???

WB.....excuse me while I dry heave.

Vulcan,
Don't hold back! Say what you really mean =)
I'd like to see what criteria were used for this "award". From what I've read it's subjective with no real analysis or comparisons made.
I know I'm biased in favour of HTC. There's lotsa reasons why I like Aces High over Warbirds, most of which are personal and subjective like the lads at Dogfighter. Consequently I'll take their opinion with a grain of salt. They will probably read this thread and think the same.

Geeze everyone forgets that AH is less than 2 years old yet War Curds is what 10 years old? Like comparing a seedling to a 80 year old oak tree.

More like just over a year old! Compare Warbirds at 16 months old to AH, its like comparing a 1 year old to a 5 year old in growth.

Heres the bottom line.
All things considered, AcesHigh is a the better product. No point in doing a side by side comparison.
Even Hotseat didnt think WBs would get it (that says a lot for Dogfighter).
Dogfighter has taken a severe credibility hit in my estimation. Its just too plainly obvious. I visited WBs last weekend and I tell you its like going from a mansion (AH) to a cheap apartment (WBs).
I STILL look forward to trying out WBs3.

Since we're giving assessments, I would say that WB's still has more of an overall user-friendly product from the stand point of optional terrains and A/C choice. The rest (Community, FM, Gunnery) is of course all the opinion of the end user. However, in AH's defense, as mentioned above, 'You ain't seen nothing yet, Baby!".

As in the DF article I don't think that WB deserves the score on the pricing structure. It is thanks to HTC and AH that the iEN Customers got the break they did. After HTC's flat rate, iEN had to follow.
SO, IMHO that shouldn't go to iEN unless you want to give the casual gamer levels that iEN allows with the $9.95 for 5 hours or the $19.95 for 10 hour route. There is flexibility for CASUAL GAMERS. IMHO though if you lean in iEN/WB's favor on this account, then iEN Still takes a hit because CASUAL GAMERS can casually fly Fighter Ace for $9.95 unlimited a month. So on cost issue I think that DF should have left this out, except, as I said above "THE END OF THE $2.00 TYRANNY!!"
The other two clear issues are
1. MAC Support. Even though it is substandard, the iEN MAC users are being bent over and treated like a girl in an Anabolic Video Film, they appear to like it just as much at Houston, Annabelle Chong, Jasmine St. Claire, Spantaneous Extacy, and Candy Apples seem to have enjoyed it.
But, they get some MAC support, whereas HTC doesn't have any cross platform support At this time. So, I kinda have to agree with the DF guys on this one.
2. Community.
Well, iEN has had the WB Community longer than HTC has had the AH community. Both are working in some fashion to support the communities. I don't know what the WB Community has over AH except for more experience. In regards to support the Webring, email addy's, and 99% of the scenarios were developed by the community and are still run by the community. iEN has done almost nothing to support the community and provide them tools to create and run scenarios.
AH with it's fledgling community has the Terrain editor, official CMs, and HTC sponsored/controlled/monitored registration.
I would be hard pressed to give this one to iEN.
So, I would have to give it to WB (This is if I was being non-biased) solely on the cross platform issue.
I agree though I would rather fly AH if I had my druthers.
Now HT about that P-40B (Perhaps 1.06?)

whilst i found WB a good feeling sim offline when i tried it online i found it very poor.
my connect probably had something to do with it but AH runs fine and almost double the FPS.
WB is not for me,i joined for about an hour then thought 'this is toejame' and left (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
sorry WB fans but after starting online sims this year I have only tried 3.
AH first then air attack then WB and none even come close to AH imho.

Funked where do I get a pair of those? Mine are worn out. BTW can you also recommend a good mouth wash. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I personally have tried to do my best in presenting Aces High fairly and without bias on Dogfighter.com
Some comments seem unjustified to me. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
Over fifteen of Dogfighter's staff members and contributors voted for the best titles in each of the following categories:
I know where my vote went and I know where another contributors vote went, because he publicly stated what his vote was.
It simply is a vote from over 15
individuals,each with different tastes.
It is nether conclusive nor scientific. It is simply an award presented by Dogfighter based on the parameters mentioned in the quote above.
Nor is it biased or in league with Warbirds or WWII online in any such respect. To do so would be obviously self defeating.
Personally I hope to keep abreast of all Aces High goings on and in turn keep Dogfighter.com up to date as quickly as possible on any breaking news or events,to benefit all of Dogfighters readers.
And in any reviews I hope to present Aces High, in the best of light or worst of light if it is so warranted ,based solely on the games merits.
I can assure all of you that this is the only criteria asked of me as a contributor to Dogfighter.com
As for Warbirds winning,I congratulate them for their achievements.
As for Aces High winning...I truly look forward to that day.

Oh, read the previews and reviews about BoB and B-17II on those sites, then buy those games and then you'll understand a lot of things ...

Guys quite honestly.
We all know what the better sim to play is. Most of us here are ex WBers. But a person looking at the two who does not play them both and has not gone through all the crap that the new WB crew has given us would ultamatly choose WB. Think about it.
They have more aircraft. More arenas. More money. More terains.
Even if we all know that the company is CRAP. And the Technical Suport is CRAP. And the Graphics and Flight Engine is no where near as advanced as Aces High is. Also the fact that the Aces High Comunity is probably one of the best managed, closest and undoubtedly best simulation ever. You can see why Dogfighter have chosen WB.
People always end up judging a book by it's cover.

<S> Dog I was just having some fun with you guys. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I pretty much said all I have to say over at AGW.
If DF wants to be taken seriously as an attempt at journalism.. they need to start tackling some serious comparisons.
Right now they are in the "don't step on toes.. it might spoil our free account" mode.
Get some balls guys... put the two head to head. At the very least it would give both boards something to talk about for an entire month (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

BTW.. I don't really know that AH would win an H2H comparison. I'd just like to see it.

I only play the best sim available.
Did they also compared the non plane playercontrolled thing???
