The new version allows drones to re arm. So you will now be able to sortie again in droned bombers.
For info.
-
Yes, but it still leaves drones on the tarmac.
-
You can now rearm your own bomber when you take drones. Note that if you still have surviving drones when you rearm, they will neither rearm nor take off again.
-
That begs the comment, that if they remain on the strip, they will either explode when the lead ship fly's out of range, or explode when vultched by the enemy.

Yes, but they don't have to count in the scoring as the rearm event and subsequent end flight shows in the logs.

Hmmm, then be careful where you leave exploding drones....a targeted base or on the front line would be plain foolish wouldn't it? :)

That works as long as runway drones are not counted in scoring.

I hear your thinking Dantoo, but do we want bombers to have to fly to a furthur rear field to avoid this? Just thoughts here, before we run into a scoring nightmare.

Which will be really interesting if you're maybe just taxiing near them when they blow. Remote friendly fire?

Stampf I honestly believe that yes if you want to rearm and go back, you have to think about where you are going to do it. It's part of the immersion that makes FSO different and worthwhile.
When you up a trio you enjoy a number of advantages over a single. The risks should be commensurate with the advantages. I am often enough left astonished at the sight of people landing to rearm at a base that is right then undergoing a full fledged attack. Do people really think they should be somehow protected while skulking off to a rearm pad? If someone is dumb enough to use up all their ammo and/or fuel they can't honestly expect everybody to stop fighting while they happily reload? May as well allow re-planing. Same goes for bombers.
There are usually plenty of safe options that can be accessed by fairly simple planning. If I am tasked with trios and expect to rearm you can bet I will be calculating the best options within hours of getting the orders. I won't be annoying the CIC on game day looking for advice. I also won't be crying if I take a risk and it doesn't pan out. That's part of the charm of FSO, it can rap you over the knuckles if you aren't paying attention to what you're doing and reward you if you do. :)

I agree when it comes to fighters, or landing bombers at a field under attack Dantoo, but we requested that bomber drones either land or rearm when the lead plane rearms at a field. We got the "can't rearm bomber drones" result, and now it's back to the way it was before the change.
This is still a game limitation and as such, should have no impact on scoring. The alternative is to let bombers land and re-up a second life, which isn't going to happen. With that in mind, if you choose to strafe bomber drones on the runway and risk death by ack, go ahead. ;)

I read the post. I wonder what happens if the drones have damage. Do they get counted as a kill when they destruct? and does the pilot that damaged them get the credit for a kill?

Good question, not sure yet.
I am guessing NO, but that is only a guess.

If the Admin CM only scores one death/landing after the rearm, then there's nothing to worry about. You can have two deaths after the rearm, and still land successfully, so no deaths for that particular pilot and no points for the opposition.

if you bail from 2 then theres no points given and one is left :aok

That is an option, but I would wait till you are very near your landing base to do so.
