"replace one worry with another"
:lol That's how AHII will grow.

Mabye they mean as in tanks
Worry about the new t34- and the gun package on the il2
-
People are scared of the IL-2 now.
I was about to cannon some poor Panzer and he towered out.
A t-34 did the same thing.
I was actually disappointed, I really wanted to lay down some hurt with my shinny new 37mm cannons. :devil
-
i think the IL2 probably more of a problem to gv'ers now than the t34/85 :)
i happeend upon a group of wirbles/osties earlier and each one took 2 hull hits from the 85 ap's. :huh
the 37mm IL2... OH YEAH! hurri D? what?
I dont think "kill ords at the airbase before we roll GV" will work as good anymore :) it will be "kill bomber hangars AND ords first"
-
Those 37mm's fire fast.
-
How many rounds does the IL carry with the 37mms? Personally I think I will still use the 23mm rounds.
-
100 rounds of pure fun.
-
This is an update... not a patch.
-
Oh, 100 rounds? Guess I'll have to try it out then :)
-
The dual 37mm on the IL-2 deleiver "32" points of dmg per impact vs the Hurricane IID's dual 40mm worth "28" dmg per impact.
Unless those prjectiles are magic, I dont think the air to ground-cannon game is going to change much. Granted, the IL-2 is much tougher to take down, but still. :)

you have not seen the rate of fire? It's much higher. I figure, 2x the rate of fire of the hurri D, at least.
I (who is barely adequate at strafing tanks with 23mm or 40mm -- and completely fail with 75mm) can kill tanks in 1 pass now. hurri D takes careful setup, and aim and convergence..
Killing a panzer with the new IL2 is like killing a M3 with a N1K.
Not that I'm complaining, I just think it's going to completely change the ground game.
-
The T34/85 does not impress me in my initial runs. I hit a panzer 6 times, 4 hull and 2 turret, at 1700 from the front and it lived. Took 8 hits on the sorties. 2 turreted me, 4 killed me, 2 did not damage me. The closest was ~1400, most were over 2k. The hits that ricocheted were all over 3k.
HVAP was useless over 1600 as I made 10 hits on different panzers without causing damage.
In short the gun seems appropriately modeled. :)
Its ability to climb hills either directly or across the slope seems poor, but its cross country level speed is 35. Reverse is also quick.
Views are pretty good when set correctly.
It should not be the all conquering GV that some thought it would be when it was announced.

Yep, the rate of fire is higher and the 37mms have a lot smaller recoil than the 40mms in the Hurri IID which also as a big affect. I think I usually fire the Hurri IID cannons only twice per attack run.

possibly you guys'll learn to do it right now. it's not "kill ords".
it's "kill all the hangars, AS we roll gv's

Isn't that how it goes anyway? 4 trios at 30K to level the field, then send in the Jabos and Goon?

nah...when we do it, we do it low to med alt, coordinated properly. there's no leveling the field, THEN send in anything.
hit em hard hit em fast hit em low :D

Ok, I'll hit em
CAP you've been flying with the Playmates too much. That is a pretty good gameplan in MW though, as long as we coordinate well.

That's much better. At least you give the defenders a fighting chance.
It's so frustrating to see a base start flashing and go to up only to see the trios in the stratosphere signalling the beginning of the end.
-
The new t34/85 is cool, but ive noticed a problem might just be me but i was very frustrated by a couple of guys that ditched on me after i had hit them twice each and i didnt get the kill on them they were on grass as well. Also the turret in the sherman is much slower up and down after update will this be fixed or no?

well.......what fun is it spending a half hour climbing to 25k, then head to target? on top of that, then there's no fight. thefight is the fun part.
when i'm in my bombers, even if i lose em all, it's STILL fun trying to hold off the fighters, and get my ords on target.
this is supposed to be fun for all of us, and not having a fight in here....t's........wel, i'd rather watcdh the hair grow on my balls than to drop bombs from 25 or 30k, with no fights.
trying to take bases generally starts the good fights. :aok :D

ya, well, t seems that the guns and playmates work well together, adding to the fun. :D
believe it or not low, lips used to arrange this type of missions ALL the time. :aok

Still wondering why the IL-2 has the outside view and the 110 doesn't , hmm

well, if they do, then so should the 38? :noid

Just a guess...Because the IL-2 is a Attack/Bomber and the 110 is a fighter/attack...I could be wrong though but I thought you could only F3 from bombers.

Tell me what I'm doing wrong Bro. I messed with every possible adjustment from the drivers position and I could not get a side view or rear quarter view to save my life.
View and drivability add to survivabilty in my opinion. Still love my Panzer.

I'll have to test it out myself, but it seems that when the perked ord system comes out, if it ever does, the 37mms will have to have a light perk on em.

you cant page up through the drivers hatch so use the UP arrow key to put your sight forward throgh the front.

I have done that and unfortunately that's as good as it gets. I guess I'm just spoiled by the view from a Panzer.
