I did many missions with this tank last night, and killed many tanks with it.  My most successful mission I died with 17 kills, but unfortunately the turret on this thing is made of even thinner toilet paper than the turret on the original T34.  *Anything* pops the turret on this tank.  I swear to God some guy looked at my turret last night and it started smoking.

Yeah, I never looked to see if it was perked until I'd lost like 20 of them.  ROFL.  Oh well.  I had them to burn, because until last night I mostly used the T34/76, so I usually got lots of perks from my ground missions.

I'm really scared of the IL-2 now though.  At one base I went to there must have been 6 people flying the IL-2 with the 37mm gun package.  You'd get jacked from any direction, and some of them were smart enough to come in at a higher angle than I could elevate my gun.  I got a lot of turrets popped by them, and a few outright one-pass deaths.

The T34/85 would shake things up, but it's really the new IL-2 gun package that radically changes the ground game.  Who knows how it'll shake out?

How much is it?
Less than the Firefly, I think 2-3.

That's not bad at all.

Does the new T34 really need to be perked? It's super easy to track or knock the turret out. To old T34 is a lot stronger.

It's funny really, it should be just as strong as the other T34, after all it's the same tank just with a bigger gun isn't it?

Completely different turret.  The T-34/85's turret has more armor, but less slope.

Seems like it might be overly fragile in AH though.

Gents,

I want to try to dispel a common misunderstanding.  After 1941, the protection achieved from tank rounds ricocheting on sloped armor profiles was no more.  All nations figured out how to design their penetrators to dig into the armor regardless of the slope.  The true value of sloped armor was that it increased the amount of armor thickness that a penetrator had to cut through to get inside the tank.  For example a 4 inch armor plate rotated to 45 degrees provides 6 inches of armor thickness.  The same plate at 70 degree angle provides 8 inches of armor protection.

Tull,

We're mostly talking about aircraft cannons killing turrets here.  All the tanks in AH, other than the T-34/76, have guns easily powerful enough to turret a T-34/85.

It seems to me that the turret is very weak on this tank. I was losing so many turrets I thought I was upping Wirbels.

Other than that I think it is modeled pretty well.

I got one-shot killed from 3k+ in it.

I need to drive it more.  Not impressed so far.
