If you find it boring, you are not walking a patrol.  Those guys find it anything but boring.

The guy is working a prison complex... very, very, very dangerous duty. There's been more than a few prison breaks.. death rate among the US or NATO guards was near 100%. Infiltrators among the indigent guard details enabled the breaks... I hope BJ comes home safe.

Stay alert, stay safe, buddy.

Is it true that all women there have beards like their fathers?  ;)

Better boring and safe then exciting and deadly.

Good luck and keep your head down

The death rate is 100% for US/Nato prison guards?  BOLOGNA!

You didn't understand what he said.  He said that the death rate among US/NATO guards during the prison breaks was near 100%.  In other words, the guards present during the breakouts all died.

The subtext is that they had no warning and were betrayed from within their own ranks.  That sort of sucks.

That's kinda like saying the death rate of airline passengers, during a crash, is 99.8%.

In any case, Blue, keep your eyes and ears up, and on your person.  <S>.

You might stay on base on Thursday. One of my friends that came back said Thursday seems to be the day all the local young men relieve their excess testosterone so to speak. He called it "man-love Thursdays" and said if you see the bushes shaking, it's not the breeze.

Enjoy your stay!

LoL you are describing Pakistan when I lived there in the 60's. Got to the Kyber Pass and it was all rock walls, rocks, stunted plants.......like the california foot hills in July. Back then the enemy was the Russians.

Not going to lie. The job does suck. But its worth it. Consider the guys who go on convoy see the enemy every once in awhile compared to our job where you see the enemy daily and up close and personal.

Since the Navy took over there have been no escapes or guard deaths. All prison breaks have been at the afghani prison in the south of the country. A non coalition held complex. Was in the news not to long ago.

Havnt seen any afghani women so I cant tell if they have beards or not. I havnt seen any good looking females except maybe one or two Air Force girls.

Worst part of this country is the air. Rumor has it that in this area the dust/sand is close to 70% fecal matter. With the non-stop wind your guaranteed to be sick your first week here.

Biggest thing I miss so far is open spaces, green plants, and animal life.

It seems like just yesterday that you were an excited kid who came here and hooked us on Ogame.  Now you're a man serving this great nation.

A big salute to you BlueJ1 and thank you for serving.   :salute

Good luck to you and stay safe.

Sent you email Rip sir.

Ogame shall be banished from the world of games. The only game where I had to plan my teenage life out to I had to be home by a certain time to fleetsave again.

When I get back anyone who will be in my area I will buy the first round for. I do my job with some complaints. But with without yalls support back home it would be impossible. So after my shipmates and battle buddies here get me plastered when we get back as a late 21st birthday I will offer anyone a free round who wants it.

Id do appreciate yall saying thankyou to me. But Id rather yall not. Given the chance you all would do the same for your country. Theres no difference between my job and yours. You all support us, and we support you. Its a equal relationship.

A tid bit of info about Afghanistan. "Man Love Thursdays" do exist. Women are seen as breeding tools and men for pleasure. It is frowned on but it does happen.

Be safe BlueJ.  I was in A'stan for the first year.  It's a beautiful country if you like the scenery.  Sadly, all the bullets and explosions kept interfering with my sight seeing.  Stay frosty.

Hooah
