From CNN:
The senator from Arizona said that while he admires and respects Paulson, "this arrangement makes me deeply uncomfortable." McCain said a high-level oversight board should be created to shepherd the government's proposed $700 billion bailout plan.
"We will not simply hand over a $700 billion blank check to Wall Street and hope for a better outcome," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
I hope everyone catches their breath and thinks this over before rushing the better part of a trillion dollars through.

Bet that 2 trillion Bush gave back in rebates (that helped no one) would come in handy right about now, since it was marked as "Emergency Money". Stupid is as stupid does, and Bush is as stupid as they come.

Yeah.. that Eeveel Boosh.. what a stupid head! Who could be so stupid as to propose rebates to taxpayers? Only a complete tool would do that.
Associated Press / August 2, 2008
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama pushed yesterday for a windfall profits tax on oil companies to fund $1,000 emergency rebate checks for consumers besieged by high energy costs, warning voters that Republican rival John McCain would mean another four years of economic troubles.

See that's just it. I see a lot more of Bush in Obama than I do in McCain. Policy differences for sure. But, he has that same "decider" spirit about him and the same ego, IMO, with his historic chance to "remake" America.
I don't love McCain. But, an Obama presidency with a Democratic congress would be like giving Ted Kennedy the keys to the car and bottle of scotch (bada bing). Cryptic pun intended since Obama represents the Kennedy/Pelosi far left spend more progressive side of the party. I think McCain is more likely to be fiscally conservative -- not to the extent of a Ron Paul -- but that's the choice we have now. And, we don't seem to have a fricken choice anymore about pie in the sky spending thanks to the uniparty in Washington and the Friends that bribe them and this financial implosion we are warching unfold.
Also, I would rather see another Kennedy on the SCOTUS than another Ginsberg.
Given a choice between a turd and a sweetheart, I pick sweetheart. go mccain :uhoh
