How do you shut these down? Thank you

How do you shut these down? Thank you
[for Vista]
Start Task Manager (Alt-Ctrl-Delete). Click SERVICES Tab. In the lower right hand corner of the window is another Services tab, click it. A new window will appear behind the Task Manager window so you need to close the Task Manager window to access it. In the Services window scroll down and find ReadyBoost. Right click Readyboost. If you just want to shut it down until the next reboot click STOP. If you want to shut it down for good click PROPERTIES. Click the down arrow next to STARTUP TYPE: AUTOMATIC and choose DISABLE. Next under SERVICE STATUS: click STOP. Do the same for Superfetch.
[for Vista and XP]
If you want to clean out the superfetch cache bring up the RUN window (Windows key - R) and type in PREFETCH. Delete all the files in this folder but be sure to leave any subfolders you find (the ReadyBoost subfolder (Vista systems only) should be located here. You can, if you want, open the ReadyBoost folder and delete any files found). If you use Superfetch (Vista) or Prefetch (XP) it is a good idea to clean out this folder once a year.

what does this superfetch/ready fetch do

what does this superfetch/ready fetch do
From the Windows website:
"Windows SuperFetch enables programs and files to load much faster than they would on Windows XP–based PCs.
When you're not actively using your computer, background tasks—including automatic backup programs and antivirus scans—run when they will least disturb you. These background tasks can take up system memory space that your programs had been using. On Windows XP–based PCs, this can slow progress to a crawl when you attempt to resume work.
SuperFetch monitors which applications you use the most and preloads these into your system memory so they'll be ready when you need them. Windows Vista also runs background programs, like disk defragmenting and Windows Defender, at low priority so that they can do their job but your work always comes first."
