While circling low over a field in a Spit XVI I touched Q to drop the flaps when the screen went white. After a few seconds the Microsoft Error Log thingy jumped in and I was returned to the desktop. I think this is the second time it's happened. I'll try to find a way to reliably replicate this and then provide full info - if I can.
I've not had this problem in previous releases, but I do have an old ATI screen driver and with this new release I've upped the screen resolution and set it to be the new 'wide' option. Sometimes I get weird effects with a tree or gun emplacement sretching right across the screen - but I figured this might be due to the old screen driver as it's happened on and off for a couple of years now. No big deal.

are you running a custom sound pack? Seem to remember one giving people trouble when they hit the flaps in a spit.

i am willing to bet you are using Rangers soundpack. just delete the spit16 file in the sound folder, and the game will replace it.

I think we have the same ATI card. I had exactly the same problem (and sometimes it still happens again) with or without soundpacks
