Title: Computer desk question...
Post by: LePaul on September 23, 2008, 11:04:02 AM
I've seen a number of the setups you guys (and gals) have posted pics of.

My desk simply stinks for flying...the desk is too tall, so after an hour or so of Aces High, your back, shoulders and pecs hurt!  I've seen some of the virtual cockpits have made and that's way more involved than I want.

I was curious what kind of setups that are commercially available?  I would like to find something that allows you to have the flight controllers down by your side....yet friendly for regular computing too!

Thanks

I would just cozy a gaming chair up to your current desk.

I read up on ergonomic design and drew up my own plans and then had a desk built for me. My joysticks are all mounted to seperate pieces of wood that slide into grooves within the desk that are hidden from casual view. Otherwise the desk looks like a very modern executive desk. I had it made of an ebony type wood faced with curly maple and it is very very heavy but soild as they come!  It had to be strong enough to hold my first large screen monitor which was over 100 pounds. :aok

Current USA basic pricing list for The V1 Chair
New V1 corner desk with standard table tops, metallic or solid paint scheme, with manual adjustment cloth sport seat.                                                                                  $1700.00
The V1 computer desk with standard table tops, metallic or solid paint scheme, with manual adjustment cloth sport seat.                                                  $2000.00

The V1 Flagship computer desk  with standard table tops, metallic or solid paint scheme, with manual adjustment cloth sport seat.                                                $2600.00

The V1 Sc (The side rack for the V1 chair designed to store computer, printer, gaming peripherals, etc.) with standard table tops, metallic or solid paint scheme.    $1100.00

Those prices are a wee bit much for a video game.  I'd rig up a home build.  I've been looking at how to get my controls lowered, I'm experiencing the same problem you are.  The desk is too high up to comfortably put my joystick and throttle on.
