Hey... just came across this on the Washington Post
George F. Will wrote an op-ed that isn't very flattering for Sen McCain... it is clearly not an endorsement of Obama, and I'm not claiming it is.
But I am curious what the conservatives on this board have to say about it.

sorry about the salacious thread title... just seeking readers

Hmm... I wouldn't say the piece was not slanted. I tend to agree with McCain. Time to make the alphabet soup pile of government agency heads accountable for performance and oversight.
Handing medals to agency leaders that preside over failures is no way to grow confidence in government.
.. oh, and McCain would fire Cox.. not execute him.
-
Apparently Will is a know fan and supporter of Chris Cox. McCain may or may not be correct in his views on Cox. But, Will may very well be suffering an ego tweak, as a criticism of Cox is by reflection a criticism of Wills judgement.
-
George Will is for Obama!!!! :lol

He pretty much said the basic problem with McCain with out actually saying it. The simple fact is McCain has a long history of being hot headed and saying stuff with out thinking it through or with out having all the information needed. That is a very dangerous thing in someone that could be at the helm of this nation's future and be in charge of national security. McCain just does not think things through he is rash and jumps into problems, a prefect example is his VP pick. She was so bad of a pick, they have to hide her away from the press.

And Joe Biden is known for his well thought out totally sensible remarks. Forest meet trees

I don't think I've ever seen Joe Biden tell someone to "F" off on the Senate floor and storm out of the room because he couldn't get his way.

Sarah Palin 'hid' from the media :lol
Let me revise this from you:
Positive facts about Sarah Palin are hidden from the media.
:)

That's because bin biden is a liberal weenie that's afraid to call a spade a spade.. let alone back the rhetoric with concise action.

You said this....

We're talking about hot headedness...and saying things without thinking first....
Joe Biden does the same exact thing....May not be on the Senate floor and dropping and F bomb....But he does say things without thinking or knowing all the facts as well.
Obama / McCain are who we are voting FOR...or against in your case... Not Palin or Biden. If people would get off the VP picks and watch the presidential picks....they MIGHT have a good idea of who they want. Instead.....the media jumps on Palin....and sets the hook...and hauls in a catch not to EVER be rivaled on Deadliest Catch.

No, but apparently he told voters in the coal producing and coal energy consuming swingstate of Ohio that:
"“We're not supporting clean coal,” Biden said. “Guess what? China is building two every week, two dirty coal plants. And it's polluting the United States, it's causing people to die.”
“So will you support wind and solar and alternate technologies?” the woman questioned.
“Absolutely, before anybody did,” came Biden’s reply. “The first guy to introduce a global warming bill was me 22 years ago. The first guy to support solar energy was me 26 years ago. It came out of Delaware.”
“But guess what?,” he continued. “China's gonna burn 300 years of bad coal unless we figure out how to clean their coal up because it's gonna ruin your lungs and there's nothing we can do about it.”
“No coal plants here in America!” pledged the Democratic vice-presidential nominee. “Build 'em, if they're gonna build 'em, over there and make 'em clean because they're killing ya.”

The video is a hoot, but a bit creepy.
http://time-blog.com/real_clear_politics/2008/09/biden_no_coal_plants_in_americ.html
It's buried almost entirely in the blogs, but had palin said it it would be front page news for a week highlighting her inexperience. Biden gets a pass, generally, because, well, goofy old Joe says the darndest things.

:huh Your equating Palin to communists?

Why was the McCain campaign so reluctant to allow reporters to cover Sarah Palin's meetings with foreign dignitaries? I thought they had a lipstick wearing pit bull. Why won't this pit bull have a press conference?

I just saw that article on Yahoo, it was quite interesting.

Lets see....I THINK she has done 2 interviews. Charlie Gibson and Sean Hanity. Course I'm sure you only saw maybe the one. And , I'm quite confident you thought she suked with gibson as he was pretty much aa prik during the interview and condesending as well. So I'm sure you liked thinking she was getting hammered.
She isn't hiding...she's busy winning. differance is..your guys are losing.
-
Given the hostility of the mainstream media, a hostility that has proven so vitriolic that it has left some liberals aghast, why the hell should she grant them a press conference?

I watched both interviews by the way. All I know is that her reluctance to associate directly with the media is baffling. Most people in this country will never get the chance to ask Mrs. Palin questions they want answered. Media outlets basically act as a mouthpiece for many. It seems the only questions she is willing to answer deal with Tina Fey and SNL :rofl
-
SO if you got hit in the nose everyday for walking to school a certain way....you'd just keep going that way for a whole year? Or whould you find a new way?
Jessh she gets hammered everytime by MSNBC , CNN , ABC , CBS and NBC. All she has to do is her campaining....and do the Debates..I think that will be all the American people need to see.

If she gets hammered by the media outlets it's because she pretty much refuses to talk to any of them. John McCain answers questions all the time from most of the media outlets....hence "The Straight Talk Express." Why hasn't that access been granted to Palin? She's a hockey mom, of course she can answer a few questions....right?
-
Twenty-Fo....how can you possibly be that oblivious to what is going on with the press? In past campaigns they have usually made a middling attempt at concealing their bias. This time, their sneering and contempt is on full display, with no apologies to either the candidate or the electorate.
If I were running for office and faced a press that was targeting me the way they are targeting her, (Man they are really PO'D that she isn't Hillary and that she was raised on moose meat.) I wouldn't feel obligated to give them ANYTHING.
-
No....thats what so many like you dont see....she doesnt have to answer....neither does Biden. Obama and McCain have to answer. If your voting on the V.P. then your using your noggin. The Media just looks for anything they can to hammer Palin on. even when she says something smart its a no win.

The VP is a backup plan if the president dies in office. I think the interview process applies to them as well. With McCain being 71 and Obama being black, I would think that we should take a look at the VP.

Ok...your right...and if people listened to what they say when on the trail...you can pretty much see its the same as the pres. canidate. With that said....ALL politcians lie....They ALL say what they think we want to hear to get our vote...then when they get elected play the blame game on why they didn't get that promise passed.
She has stated in her adresses what her policies are....She has said in her 2 intervies what are plans are...what she believes.
I think you just want the media on her back to be like Crockett and have something to gripe about that really IS nothing more than a hollow argument that half the time shouldn't even be adressed.
-

Everyday new issues arise. Did you ever think that a week and a half ago the government would have to fork over $700 Billion in tax payer money to bail out the financial industry? That's the thing about the world we live in, things are constantly changing. With that said, it is important for our elected/Presidential Nominees to talk to the media to get their message out there. I want the hard questions to be asked and answered by both sides.
-
I want the hard questions to be asked and answered by both sides.
I doubt that. You want to see Palin possibly get nailed in some way or another be it media made or actual facts. If your looking for REAL answers...you'll get nothing from any of them. I can't remember BEFORE an election ANY ONE canidate answering chit. Sound bites and run arounds. After the election is always "Well that's not what I said" or "That was taken out of context." They'lll do about 1/3 of something they may have promised in some sort of way to somebody some place and some time.
-

Well....now you've done it Shuckins. You are implying that Sarah Palin is being unfairly targetted by the media. Please don't let some members of the O'Club see that or they'll be in here ganging you. :uhoh
:devil

LOL A supporter of a MARXIST posts a pic of Palin as a communist??? The pot and the kettle are at it again!
