Title: 8 way hat support .. did it make it into 0.34?
Post by: Jekyll on October 08, 1999, 08:12:00 AM
Well,  did it?

My MS Sidewinder FF stick still can't get the quarter/up views.  Was just wondering if 8 way hat support is slated for 0.35?

Jekyll, I was having trouble getting it to work too (Wingman Digital Extreme) until I realized that you have to click "Set Button" in the dialog box for each function you're assigning (for example, highlight "Forward Left, click on the appropriate button on the hat display, and then click "Set Button"). Worked for me, and a big help it is too. Now all I need is "Idiot Mode Takeoff."  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

How about 4-way hat support?   Just a couple of stick sets.  Please!

Still only 8 button recognition  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Or am I missing here something ?

Can't use 45° views on my CH-16 Combatstick.

The CH Combat stick uses two hats. Actually one of them, the coolie hat is the only real "hat" of the two. The other one though configured as a hat is actually set up like four buttons, 7 up, 8 down, 9 left, 10 right.

If we had buttons for 9 and 10 we could configure them to our hearts desire, but we don't and I have tried all imaginable configurations in the keymapping utility to get them to work right.

Fortunately I have a CH Pro Throttle and I was able to configure the 9 and 10 positions in it and it works fine now. If you don't have a Pro Throttle there is a program available to allow you to program those positions but unfortunately I can't find it now. It costs about $20 or so and may be available at download.com.

Hope this helps...

8-way on the TM F-22 now works fine, (didn't work right in .33) but it does have to be programmed digitally via the TM software, rather than using the setup in the game.

Jekyll: yes it did.

Remember to map the diagonal view keys within the stick mapper.

I have written this already four or five times, but here goes...  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Do not[/i] map the up view using the MS Profiler, but map it internally within AH.  Then it works fine and one can do other things at the same time.  The hang up with the up view is as a result of the external app running in the background.

Now that 8 way hat support has been added in v0.34 there should be little need to use the Profiler in any event, except perhaps for RW or BC.

Cheers,
