Title: trim and gear aspects
Post by: aircat on October 09, 1999, 02:44:00 PM
the trim seems to set to a absurd amount rudder almost full and aliron 99% to 100%  just for a gentle climb. any speed over that and you can no longer turn the opposet. not even near compression speeds.

the only way out of this problem is when you start your dive is to lower flaps and gear.. now if I remember correctly, only the F4U was able to extend gear and/or flap at high speed (I think a few others but not those modled in AH). the planes in AH should have gear problems like getting locked into the extended possition once a certian speed is met. and not be able to be extended at high speed.

and why does the P51s not have any umph at all? 250 at level flight? speed gain on them doesnt seem up to par either as they often lightly nosed down and would run (hence the name "Runstang") all  planes seem to be strapped down for some reason. I would fly the stang more often if it was up to its stats. but I cant stay alive in the Stang the way they are modeled. I hope this aint another game leading to "Spit Birds" or should I say "Spits High".

250 in a stang??
Dont know what you have loaded on your plane, but I can easily cruise at over 300 kts throttled back to 50 (manifold pressure) in the stang. If your loaded with fuel, rockets, bombs, or drop tanks it is alot less. Also, without trimming it out the stang has a natural tendancy to climb at 2 or so. Make sure its level and your not climbing.

I am sure that damage to due to lowered gear and excessive speed plus the inability to drop gear over certain speeds will be modeled in the future.

Bear in mind this is an early Beta and a lot of features are yet to be implemented.
