Hey, ya'll! Seeing as we're in the season of politics, I figured it was appropriate to ask for your vote. My song, "The Man They Need Me To Be" is in the Top 30 (number 29, to be specific) of The Independent Music Network's Country Chart! :rock This is the first time a song of mine has broken out of the weeds, so to speak, and made it into the top tier. Position on this chart is determined by radio requests and direct votes for the song on the IMN website. Thanks to all who have helped me get this far. Please help me now to reach number 1 by doing the following:

2) On the left hand side, click on "VOTE FOR COUNTRY CHARTS"

Very creative, Eskimo! The points are a weighted total of you radio requests and fan votes for the week just completed. Momentum is a measure of how fast you're moving, and are a week-to-week measure of up or down movement on the chart. Cumulative points I believe are the cumulated points since you appeared on the chart. Since this was my first week (not a bad start), my points and cume points are the same and I've got a momentum of zero.

Stalwart: I'd love to be touring right now, and to play Austin (among many other places). Unfortunately, my personal situation won't currently allow it. It certainly makes it an uphill fight to not be able to go on the road and build a fan base. It cost on average $100,000 or more for your typical band to tour for a year. I love being on stage, but have obligations that prevent me from quiting the day job right now. My hope is that I might be able to gain enough recognition through the internet and radio to sell a song or two. A single hit song could potentially allow me to take the plunge into music full time.

I bought one of Richs CDs. Its a mistake to call his music just "country" or just "western". Hes got a lot of cool guitar rifts in his music and I would generally give him high marks for originality. This man has an awful lot of talent.

That's some of the nicest words I've recieved regarding my music, Rich46yo. Thanks. I have to give a lot of credit to the studio that produce my background tracks for me, The Blue Spot Studio, just outside Nashville. It's been a great colaborative effort on the album. Hey guys, thanks again. Yes, "The Man They Need Me To Be" topped out at #7 last week, but slid this week back to number 21. Still, it's been in the top 30 for 5 weeks now, which I'm very pleased with. As Trax1 noted, "Don't Give Up On Me" zoomed from #19 up to #10, so yes, by all means vote for this one this week. It's gotten a lot of support from the Autism awareness groups, and with your additional support has a decent shot at #1. So I humbly request that you shift your votes to "Don't Give Up On Me" for this week.
Camnite: The CD is available on-line from www.cdbaby.com/richowen , or you can probably order it through your local music store. The above link lets you listen to 2 minutes of every song on the CD (11 of them, and all original). You can also purchase it electronically from iTunes and several other sources.
Eskimo: Yeah, "Don't Give Up On Me" is probably my favorite, for obvious sentimental reasons. Seems every time I perform it, I get something in my eye, dang it! :salute

Sabre, I don't mid supporting you at all. I'd just feel better about it if I heard your song on a local station. Have you tried getting it on any Dallas stations? I gave you a link to the most likely to play it in an earlier thread.
I was in country radio for 10+ years and know how dog eat dog it is getting a song on the air. You should package your survey results along with a CD and FedEx it to some lower rated major market stations. You can check The Texas Association of Broadcasters (http://www.tab.org/) for a list of stations that might carry your songs. To get major label attention you need to get more airplay. Internet stations or downloads don't count for diddly squat.

RPM: I appreciate very much your advice. I've actually got a music promoter doing exactly what you suggest, not just in the US, but around the world. I've actually been getting more FM airplay over seas (an easier market to break into, I guess), in England, Australia, and elsewhere. I've got an electronic press kit that's been going out to new stations (terrestrial and internet) everymonth. One of the things that's been holding me back somewhat is I don't have a regular band to do more live shows in and around Colorado. It means I'm relying almost exclusively on airplay to gain notariety. Nonetheless, things have been moving forward, and being on IMN's top-30 chart at least shows I'm gaining some national recognition.
Any way, I appreciate again the support of my long-time friends here at AH. Thanks so much again. :salute And again, here's the links to vote if you haven't already...

I got this info off the USO website. You live in Colorado, right?
Only a tiny handful of the USOs have buildings/organizations that aren't inside of airports. These few USOs are always organizing events for the troops.
That's a good way to both get your name out there and do something nice for the troops. :D

Thanks for the info. I contacted the national USO's office, but they're only interested in major label artists. I had not thought to see if we had a local USO office. I will take your suggestion and contact them. I've been wanting to organize some kind of free concert for the troops at Ft. Carson. Perhaps the USO can help. :salute
