I've been reading about life expectancy and found this pretty cool calculator. I don't know how accurate it is; but all of the questions and how they appeared to affect the virtual age sound reasonable.
http://www.peterrussell.com/Odds/VirtualAge.php
Me:
Biological Age: 43
Virtual Age: 33
Average Life Expectancy: 75
Your Life Expectancy: 85
I sure don't feel like I did when I was 33. I went back and answered the questions as bad day/worst case as I could and my life expectancy ended up matching the average. Either way I'm at least halfway to dead.

Never seen that before.

My father-in-law is 88, almost 89. He's in great shape in most respects. It says that he's got 17 years left! Woo Hoo!
My wife is 40; but has a virtual age of 20.4! Woo Hoo! I'm sleeping with a college girl!
-
With few exceptions my Mother's side of the family is ling lived. I really have no idea about my Dad's side at all.
This is what I got.
Biological Age: 54
Virtual Age: 45.3
Average Life Expectancy: 77
Your Life Expectancy: 85.7
Mid to upper 80's is the norm for most in my family. Gotta get that social security we paid into.
-
It said my life expectancy is 56 years and I'm alreaydy virtually 53. So what, 3 years left? :rock

Um... Hang...
Don't buy any 10-year CDs...
Or kittens; get a 10-year-old cat from the pound if you need another one.
That three year warrantee on your car; it should be just fine.
That old scotch you've been saving... what the heck, drink it up.
-
Hah, I was like 10 years under my biological age of 28 until the last half with alcohol, diet, risk taking and number of miles driven lol.
-
actual age 48
virtual age 36.4
life expectancy 87.6
-
actual age 57
virtual age 14.3
life expectancy 194.72 :rock
-
I did one of these a couple of years ago.
The result was I should have died 15 years ago.
But thats the norm for me. All my life people have underestimated me
Why should that be any different lol
-
Biological Age - 35
Virtual Age - 20.4
Avg. Life Expect. - 74
Your Life Expect. - 88.6
-
Yea, this thing has some errors. Even if someone was 95 and had everything wrong with them, their life expectancy should not be a negative number. Less than a year, sure, but not negative.
-
LMAO this one shows me completely different
Biological age 47
Virtual age 42.5
Average life expectancy 76
My life expectancy 80.5
-
Also, it should have given me a few extra years for having gigantic testicles, but it didn't even ask...

Though I don't think it's a good indicator. In a 2 week span, I have thus so far had 2 root canals worked on twice. And nearly passed out from an allergic reaction to Penicillin. My body is desperately trying to prove this thing wrong.

Yep. Both grandpas smoked cigars, drank 2 drinks a day, ate oatmeal every morning, and lived to 92 and 94 respectively.
Short of Obama getting elected, I really do see the same age destiny for me. ;)
Oddly enough, I had a great uncle that lived to 101, actually he died the day before his 101st birthday, but my relatives said "Close enough". I was 6 years old when he told stories of what life was like in the late 1900's but was too young to care. What I would give for recordings of his stories now....
Edit: My grandmother was the YOUNGEST to die, at age 92, out of 11 children. 1 surviving brother, who is 102 and lives in Nebraska.

I'm just between jobs. I always feel like I'm gonna die when I'm between jobs.

I should be 10 years younger (bilogically) and am, at 42, half way through or so.
hmmm
Gonna test my wife's stats :D
-
omg - i die next may......
-
Yep.. they still said I would make it to 89 even tho they did not like my "risky behavior" or my lack of seatbelt use or the fact that I drive too much
This seems odd given that my relatives all lived into their 80's-90's and they all drank and smoked (or still do) and all drove all over the country and none of em even had seatbelts in their cars.

yeah. Should i be worried about why this came as a surprise?

No, it's probably a good thing. It just seems like I've known you online for a long time but I don't think I realized that you were a kid (back then).
-
ah...well thats probably one of the better answer
-
only 8000 days left :(
Dont worry my experience indicates that as time progresses the days go by a lot faster. Im much older then you and I will outlive you by twenty to thirty years maybe... lot of ifs and maybes not figured into that calculator.

Biological - 50
Virtual - 34
Average life expectancy - 75
My life expectancy - 90
My grandmother on my father's side and my grandfather on my
mother's side lived beyond 95.
My dad died of diabetes at 47.
Of course my outlook on life was the exact opposite of his.

-

Too much whiskey?
-
I'm 29 and it said my biological age was 12.5! :lol This test is pretty straight-forward: Eat your vegetables, exercise, keep your weight under control, don't smoke, and wear your seatbelt. :aok I thought it was interesting that skipping breakfast was a negative factor, as well as how much sleep you get.
-
All studies say pretty much the same thing tho....
It is 80% genetics and 20% the rest of the stuff you mention. They start off asking how old your relatives are and what kind of things were wrong with em..
Mine were great and healthy.. the rest of the stuff I do wrong.. I still made 89 on the expectancy

I'm not disagreeing, but am curious. Go back and take it again with your same genetics, but select the bad end for all the lifestyle choices like: sleep, eating, drugs, alcohol, risk taking, etc.
-
If I said that this thing was stupid and unreliable would it belie the fact that it said I had a low life expectancy?
-

If it said that I think it's in your best interest to believe that it is stupid; you'll live longer.

My Grandfather just turned 87....His Dad (my great grandfather) lived to be 112 and at one time was the oldest person living in Texas.
My bloodlines live long lives on both sides. When I go.....I go.
