Title: WMLute lost his apartment from a fire
Post by: Meatwad on September 26, 2008, 05:42:06 PM
This is copy and paste from the gang forum in hobowars from LadyLindy (Lute's really good friend). She OK'd for me to post it here for the ones that havent heard anything from Lute in a while.

The house that he was living in, burned down. It was a large Victorian that was divided into 3 or 4 apartments, and he was on one of the lower levls.

From what he told me and what he knows right now, it started in one of the upper levels. The cops and firemen knocked on his door alerting him of the fire. He was able to get his pc, guitar, tv, and most of his clothes out, but lost everything else. He said that if there was anything left to salvage, it would still be trash due to the smoke and water damage.

That's all he was able to relay at the time because he was using a neighbor's cell phone - I believe his was lost in the blaze. He said he would call me (LadyLindy) back sometime today - right know he is trying to figure out where to go and what to do next.

So, if you would, keep my best friend, Flock (aka WMLute)in your thoughts and prayers as he goes through this ordeal.

Thank you.

LadyLindy here - Lute's good friend and major support rock right now -

I spoke with Lute this morning and he was still sounding very unlike himself and reported that his lungs hurt from all the smoke inhalation (stubborn fool didn't have the EMTs check him or give him oxygen).  I told him that he better get his arse to the ER or a clinic and just be checked out - he reported back later that he did finally go - I wasn't able to talk to him long at that time - but he did say that he was fine.

He doesn't know if his pc works - he hasn't taken time to check it yet - and he doesn't have access to the internet - I have been relaying all the well wishes and kind thoughts everyone has sent his way when I do talk to him.  Anyone that would like more information, please feel free to PM me or ask Meatwad, teufl, or any of the AH hobos for my email address.  I'm sure they would be glad to provide it to you.

Also - I made a post earlier today, titled "WMLute", that included the story and a link to make donations through PayPal for anyone that desired to do so.  Thank you for all of you that have done so.  Every little bit will help.

And to answer eskimo's question  - no he didn't have insurance.  He had just moved in like 3 or 4 months ago - when I was down to see him a couple weeks ago - he had mentioned that he probably should get it - unfortuantely never got around to it.

Very nearly lost my house to a wildfire earlier this year. Hang in there Lute, stuff is just that...stuff. You can always get more. It's your life you need to be thankful for.
