There are 2 things pretty annoying, IMHO:
1. You get a ditch when you land inside the borders of your field, just becouse your wheels are one feet outside the rwy. Most WWII airfields didnt even have concrete rwys. Is 20 miles from your field or one feet outside of the rwy the same thing?
2. You can exit successfully your a/c in an enemy field just becouse the field is (partially?) closed.
Plz.

Cant agree more. If you come to a stop within a certain number of metres (feet or whatever) from the RWY edge then it should be successfull landing. Why else should we even bother to nurse a plane back if only to get that espc with the eng-killed-and-lack-of-drag-and-brakes bug (see bugs board).
Fix one or the other, or even both.

and you get sucessful landing at a v base where there is no runway hmm.... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I believe it's to give a big invetive to land on the runway. Otherwise people will just ignore tham and put the plan down anywhere.
It annoys me sometimes too. Managed to get an La5 that was missing the outer half of the left wing all the way home, lined up on the runway, flaps and gear down. At this speed it's almost impossible to keep the wings level and I ended up missing the runway, bouncing around a bit and ripped the gear off. Exit within spitting distance of one of the hangers and I get a ditch =(
