My dad had a whole collection of books on WWII aircraft that he passed on to me. I got to looking through them this morning and found a specific book on spitfire's. I know spitfire is a dweeb plane but I personally like the Spitfire. Anyways we need a spitfire MK 24!! Heres some specs on the 24:
Max speed:454mph at 26,000ft
Time to 20,000ft(6,100m): 8 Minutes
Service cieling: 43,500ft (13,250m)
maximum range: 880mls with 210Imp. gal
Wieght: 9,900lbs
Dimensions:
Span: 36ft 11in
Length: 32ft 11in
Height: 13ft 6in
Wing area: 244sq. ft
Armament: 4 20mm hispano-suiza cannons
I think this would be an awesome addition to AH!! Maybe even perk it like the tempest because of its abililty! Let me know what you guys think! <S> :rock

I think the idea is to have planes that flew during WWII. :)
-
Dont think the Spit 24 was produced until 1946 so doesn't qualify for addition.
Only 54 were produced, they were part of the post war ocupation force and didn't see WW2 service.
-
Oh crud! ;) You guys are right! guess i should have done more research! Sorry! Well I gave it a try! <S> and thank you for the corrections! ;) :frown:

hey Brad I know wiki isn't the best source but it does show all the different variants.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermarine_Spitfire_variants_part_two
Spit 21 was the latest wartime Spit.
-
Give me the Spit XII first. 1943-44 bird.
Spit 21 saw little combat, no air to air and was only with 91 Squadron.
-
nope. We have enough spitfires, aren't you satisfied with the Spik Mk I?
:noid
-
clipped wings spit XII :O
-
Yeah spit 21 would be a neat airplane to have but it was only used with the 91 squadron and had no air to air kills. spitXII Would be neat to have with the clipped wings and all

low alt griff.....what's not to like?
:aok
-
To be fair there are 5 F4u and 6 spitfires. The spitfire IX had been in combat for 6 months before the f4u had seen any, yet the spitfire only has 1 more varient.
-
:noid why do we need another spit. are you kinding me
-

So how's that deployment going?
-

Yes, he's kinding you.
Otherwise, Id rather focus on new planes than more variants.
-
What we need: More French and Italian fighters (REALLY want an updated c.205), more German bombers (He-111 :pray ), more British carrier fighters, and some additional tanks. (Char 35, anyone? ;) )
What we DON'T need: Moar dweebfires, BEE TWEENTAH NIEEEENZ
-
Spit Mk XII would be nice, I wouldn't mind if HTC were so nice as to add one. :rock
-
No deployment for me, golfer sir!!! Wifes pregnant so I get to stay home this time 'round! At least for a little while! :) :salute

I think the Seafire counts as a 7th Spitfire variant, which makes it the aircraft with the most variants in AH. The 109 saw combat years before the Spitfire but has less variants in the game, so no complaining please. :P
-
You maythink it's a spitfire varient all you wish, it clearly does not have the designation spitfire. ;) The 109 saw combat years before the spitfire i admit, i'm more than happy for the 109B/D series to be modelled. :D
-
No, all we need is the ability to carry bombs on the Spit5. If that were allowed, or even the option for 2x250lb on the Seafire, then all would be well in SpitLand. :aok

Your forgetting one -
Fair enough if you include the Seafire, Tempest, Tiffy and the Hurricanes you have a total of 11 British frontline fighters. Remember we were limited in resources so didn't have the luxury of developing and building lots of different aircraft.
So yes you would expect the major plane in the RAF frontline fighters to be the Spitfire series.
For me the perfect RAF Spit line up is -
I
Vb
Vc
IX
VIII
XII
XIV - doubles quite effectively for a 1943 LF IX or mid 44 LF IXe
XVI - free
F.21 - perked
Seafire LIIc or III (not current one)
10 variants that cover from 1940 through till the very last engagement of WWII.
More importantly every major development (XII was first use of the Griffon), and most manufactured Spits. Would also give the RAF a true 1945 based aircraft, the F.21. which it is lacking at the moment.
These with the other ones would give a total of 14 British frontline fighters.
Try adding up the German and U.S. frontline fighters. I believe the U.S. ones already stand at possibly over 20.
Considering the 109 AND 190 were the Spits main adversaries, you can't seperate them, they should be added together also. Add to them the Me262, Me163 the LW isn't that bad off either.
So its not quite as easy as saying there's 10 and thats enough.

Agreed. A few more spitfires would also make a lovely addition. :)

Give us back the 109G-10 and you can have any Spit you want that saw combat.
-
Can we switch out your K4 with the G-10? :D
-
I am all for the Spit 7. If we have to compromise on this decision let's consider the DUKW! :D

Think you transposed those kev.

NNNNNNNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! :cry
:rofl

Expanding the plane set of those countries represented that have little in Aces High (Italy comes to mind) would be a prudent thing to do, along with remodeling the rest of the planes we already have (as HTC is already doing). Even with my next-to-no knowledge about how HTC does things, it makes sense that it simply takes a lot of time. Be patient. Seems people get stuck in the "I want what I want when I want it" mode.
-

Yup I did, thanks. :)
-
A new Spitfire would be a nice change. But HTC have only been adding hanger queens lately.
-
What we really need is the La-7B.
478mph cruise speed--- 4 wing mounted 20mm--3 nose mounted 30mm and it is impervious to any type of ammo.
We simply must have this plane.
Oh yeah!
It also can be retro fitted with RATO for quick base defense.
Non perked of course.

Could you please provide a reference or two for this wonder lala? Year production began, numbers produced, squadron deployments, etc...? I do not claim to be an expert on Lavochkin fighters (i is MiG dweeb), but the above just does not match up with any of my reputable reference sources.
Are you sure this is not a plane out of Crimson Skies?
yes, i got the joke btw; just added my own to it

Spitfire in all its various marks was Britains MOST produced aircraft, of course there will be a lot of them!!!!
Only needs -
Vc
XII
Seafire LIIc or LIII instead of the IIc, and you have a complete line-up of Spits as you could reasonably ask for or expect.
-
We can all dream Kev. :aok

Listen, I've been given the bribe quote to get the Mk XII in game. Just need to sell a kidney now.
