Title: Suspect Nation
Post by: SD67 on September 28, 2008, 09:37:53 PM
I watched this on the History Channel while I was up visiting my my parents on the weekend.
I fail to see how anyone can watch this and not get angry.
It's downright scary.

they make excellent targets.

may I suggest a lil scoped ruger 10-22 and hornet sub-sonic ammo? Nearly silent.. and very effective.

:D

Get caught doing it.  You won't be facing charges of just discharging a fire arm in public and destruction of public property.

Some whack job out here shot a few of them a while back, it was referred to the Department of Homeland Security.  Never heard anymore about it or the guy.

Just use common sense when you do.  IE, don't drive past them and park in a parking lot they observe...  DOH!

This is probably an urban legend, but I heard that if you use a paintball gun, and merely obscure the lens, and don't actually hurt the camera, they can't charge you with anything more than minor vandalism-But don't test that out because I said so.

fortunately my house is in a rural area... any camera that went up out here would be a waste of money and wouldnt last 48 hours if everyone knew what was going on.

Been looking at adding one of those with a silencer to my bunny killing arsenal. There's some nice full barrel integrated silencer kits available: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Hunting-shooting/Other/auction-178640800.htm

<troll on>>>

What are all of you doing that you're afraid of being watched?  If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about...

If you can be charged with a felony for farting on a cop, I would imagine 30 years would be in order here.

what about one of those 1200 fps pellet guns.. that would not be a firearm.   Or.. you could just blind em with a light and then smash em with a hammer.

It is Orwells 1984..  slavery is freedom.     I see the "click it or ticket" seatbelt signs on the road everywhere..

The nanny state.

I always found a pair of diagnal cutters (properly insulated) work just fine to disable most any piece of electronic equipment. Just have to go to the source is all.

With every camera and piece of monitoring equipment that goes up the less and less we are Americans.

Eventually we'll have retina scans in the public ways. Why not we do it in squad cars for License plates now?

I trust the American public. I cant really say the same about the Government.

Lazs, I have one of these:

Is a Benjamin Super Streak.  Up to 1500 fps when broken in.  It'll put a pellet clean through a rabbits head if you use something with a penetrator.  Be interesting to see what else it can go through.  the damn thing is loud as all get out though.

In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, they are also considered "firearms".

I shot out the lights at the Wendy's behind my house, a few years back with one after repeated (nice) requests to have them shut off at 1 A.M. when they close.   (they are very bright and stay on until 3 AM like a football stadium)

The police questioned all of the neighbors, including me, and told me that someone was going to be "in big trouble" because an air-rifle is still considered a firearm in PA, and as such, is not allowed to be discharged in public.

I told them that I'll keep that in mind.     :devil

What's crazy to me, is that when I posted about the government listening to phone calls and scanning email in this country, many of the wingnuts used the tired argument: "if you ain't doin nuthin wrong, you ain't got nuthin to worry about."

Now, they talk about shooting out cameras. Huh.

they can't listen to my phone, i shot it.

IIRC, the "nuthin' wrong" argument was applied to phone calls and e-mails that originated outside the US that they were going to monitor under FISA procedures. In short, they were primarily looking at people OUTSIDE the US.

A camera on Main Street USA isn't quite the same, now is it? Be honest.

No, but Republicans have been relentless on attacking FISA:
http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2008/02/republicans-block-fisa-talks

They also got retroactive immunity for Telecoms passed.

BushCo doesn't want to be beholden to FISA, or bother with warrants.

And the issue with collecting emails on the internet, is that it's pretty hard to identify outside US-to-inside US communication. They have to cast the net wide, and sift through many Gmails.

Actually there are no less than (3) in Lansdale, PA to "assure that nobody is vandalizing the Kugel Ball"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kugel_ball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kugel_ball)

Oddly enough though, if you look at them closely (1) is always pointing at the train station.

Did I mention that the feed goes directly to the police station which is directly behind the building that the cameras are mounted on?

Big Brother or lazy cops?
