I have been on the other side of N00bism where I suspected certain players of possibly consorting with the program after witnessing certain unlikely events that take place.
I am talking about questioning how a GV can be so damn accurate at 24 out while moving, certain ACM's that seem impossible after I did everything in my power to compete against assailant, and deadly accuracy in a 37mm in a IL2.
But instead of continuing to think this way, I started asking questions of how and why. In the recent year I spent time in the DA with some hella good sticks. I frustration level has never been as high as I experienced in the recent months. Just when I thought I understood flight envelopes in different kinds of planes, I get Pwned by certain guys that have been doing it for a while. I would briefly think, "ok, this guys is probably on the HiTech staff" because of his ability to manipulate his aircraft to do things that I do not think is possible, but done anyways. A friend of mine called me the "Ego-Booster" because he would not have good results with his opponent so he would duel me to "boost his ego", lol.
After a while (I'm a slow learner), it started to click. I am not quite to the level yet of my DA friends but the gap has closed somewhat. That was because I am not afraid to ask questions and get answers and not think they have an "inside" with HiTech or "hacking." And you'll make friends in the process (so long they don't ask for money). Heck i was in the TA with an instructor going over some details of ACM's but I been playing more than 4 years so nothing to be embarrassed about.
Point is - I saw a post regarding an IL2 and an allegations of hacking by the IL2 pilot. Instead of alleging illegal activity and wishing them bad, just ask the question "how can I do what you just did?" I bet you 8/10 great sticks will take the time to explain how they got there and what you need to do to improve. It is possible to do some of these things. HiTech is well in tune with their own game to let hacking happen so get over it newbies and pessimists.
Final thing is for newer guys, don't worry about rank when learning to do something because you have to put yourself in the line of fire and get burned several times to learn what you need to learn. :salute

Rattfink, did you read the post??
It's not about hacking. It's about doing things in the game with skills (and with practice) that might, to some, appear to be game hacks. I agree that many people are too quick to throw the "cheater/hacker" label at someone who shows above-average skills, and that not enough people stop to ask "how did you do that...I want to learn."

There are tons of this all over the bbs. You can draw your own conclusions.
Points I absolutely support are asking questions and not automatically believing its a hacked job that performed an ubelievable feat to beat you. When ever an amazing maneuver has been performed to ultimately kill me, I usually ask just how he /she did it and then practiced on and off in the TA.
Peace, Love an Joy to all :D

Raider is absolutely 100% on target with this post.
I been flying online simms since late 80's early 90's and it's so easy to run to the "Hack Bunker" when you get you buns handed to you than to look reality in the eye and consider that maybe you are not as hot a stick as you think you should be.
Even with all my years experience flying these sims and including my years as a Pilot evey new simm that comes along that I get into I find it humbling at first and is always a long grind to improve. The longer it takes me to improve the better I like that game because who wants to fly doughnuts around a circus? Not me, because easy gets boring real quick.
A couple questions here for some of you that replied to this post.
1) I dont understand why you are " IN " at all. Explain please. You actually disagree with the message Raider contained within this post? You saying you should scream "Hacker" before you use the "T" word and "Think" about something?
2) Not being a "BBS Commando" I dont pour over all the fine print of "The Rules" so I dont understand why Raider should "Rephrase his post" as it was said. Are we going to miss the entire point of his post to diddle over the fine print of how an "Appropriate" post should be constructed? Last time I checked this was the "Monkey Grinder" section of a cartoon peanut gallery dealing with a cartoon airplane game. What happened? This become ligitimate English Literature or something?
Anyways, I think this would be a much better game if we all thought a bit more about how something happend to us in the game rather than power whining due to a lack of skill or understanding.
Just some of my thoughts, so now I will put on my Kevlar T shirt for the flames I know are on the way.
Later,
KayBay

This does not account for true skill but if your stick is not set up properly or has a bad USB port, no USB powered support or loose/weak parts in stick from heavy use you will not be able to do control the plane as well as you should.
Nose bounce, lack of full motion or spikes all degrade your control.
For the last couple of months my stick would need to be re calibrated once a week or so. Out of nowhere it would just want to roll in a simple maneuver or i would lose control in a diving or climbing turn. Last night it happened to me again while fighting Shuffler, who is an excellent 38 pilot it turns out. After being killed I went up again and had same prob and re calibrated. It was fine after like so many times before but when i mentioned it on range Yanksfan asked if i use a powered USB. I don't and all my usb ports are full plus a few months back I replaced the old power supply with a cheaper version and less watts. My problem probably lies in the USB port as well as many of you who just can't seem to make your plane do what others can......or the above other explanations.
Start at the obvious and work your way down.
Great post btw although I'm stubborn and have a hard time believing some of the things I see.
Indestructible tanks, goons out of control and falling landing safety dropping troops, warp on command, wingless planes, incredible turning abilities and a few other glitches I suppose I should call them. Most can be explained

Great post Raider,
I had a similar experience that went something like this:
After getting zapped with embarrassing frequency by DR7 when he didn't hang in bishland, I invited him to wing with our squad so we could pick up on how he so regularly made "impossible" shots on myself and other members of our squad. He obliged, was very helpful and shared a few tips. It became clear after about 5 minutes that the reason he is so successful is that he uses GV's to their full potential within the constraints of the game. He also knows how to set himself up so that he has a GOOD shot on an opponent! He uses the terrain to his advantage and he doesn't leave his tank out in the open and wait to get killed. He stays quiet and waits to get a good shot... boom, you're dead and probably never saw him. What I thought (but never said) was a player using an "aimbot", turned out to be a skilled player, using every tool that is available within the game to get superior results!

Kind of posts I like to see Raider. You definatley keep a positive view.
I never worry too much about hacks, He** I figure all the "Good-Sticks"
usually end up getting me first anyhow. Rock on! :rock

SEraider. The people you are referring to are crackers (Computer Crackers) not hackers. Hackers work to improve or debug software while crackers work to maliciously gain access to computers or generate programs known as exploits to cheat.
Hacker = good guy.
Cracker = bad guy.

"8- Cheating allegations or descriptions are not allowed. Email support@hitechcreations.com to report any issues regarding this. HTC permanently bans anyone caught cheating in Aces High. We take cheating and allegations of cheating very seriously."
It dose not matter if a name or said or not. Just the fact that he talked about it is breaking rule 8.

still don't see where he accused someone of cheating or made a description of someone cheating. More i read messages boards the more it seems reading comprehension is looked down upon.

While the topic title choice may have been a bit poor, the topic of discussion is a commentary on how newer players will make acusations of hacking often for lack of knowledge on how to get max performance, and for lack of truely understanding the situation, or for ignorance of a skillset value. Eventually players can grow out of this attitude though. I don't see anything questionable other than the thread title itself.
-
Holly crap! No wonder the game is in this shape. What is wrong with all of you? Whaaaa, you broke rule #8, whaaa you should not talk about this, whaaa!!!!! How many of you dweebs already emailed HT to tell him about the bad post RAider made?
He did not break any rules. He did not describe how to cheat, a cheat, or made any allegations of cheating. STHU and let HT decide if the post broke any rules or not. And while you are shutting up, try doing what he said :aok

I read nowhere that he stated anybody wasa cheating or that he felt that anyone was cheating. As a matter of fact I took what he was saying is that before accusing someone of cheating, there is usually a perfectly good explaination for what is being viewed.
I took his post to be intended to discount allegations of cheating in most circumstances, therefore no rule broken.
re-read original post

My first post should have been rephrased.
I did not refer to the body of his post. The "subject" of his post should have been changed. The body of it is good.
Mods on boards I have been to, will fire away on a post w/o a look at the post itself.
Again, the subject suggests one thing while the post is something else.

Simple solution. Call Roy SeRaider and ask him to rename the title. Problem solved. Makesure U tell him to read the post before he automatically assumes what the title means, lol.

The only rule that I think is getting broken here is this one...
6- Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". Issues with any breach of rules should be brought to HTC's attention via email at support@hitechcreations.com.

Most people stray away from the Fun. Set goals but set them at a reasonable level. I used to care about rank and now I’ll take a Me262 and crash it into a tree to make squaddies laugh.

Exactly "D", I'd say thats partly why enthusiasm to keep the "GR/RR" Team just
sank into the depths of the murky "split-pea" soup,(have you ever seen split-pea soup??, :O)
and I've done nothing but put off getting back into my account.
Not alot of effective "Positivity",and its hard to keep a squad together as it is

downloaded the new update and built a new machine,(vista) with triple screen (good stuff except for GV's) so this last week has been very hard on me! but today, after working hard all week, to figure out the triplescreen way of shooting the main gun of a t34/85 (triple makes the rangefinder gigantic)

The Original post has not crossed the line of discussion. But the topic title is way to provocative.
Just reading this thread you can see the name calling incited by the title.
You are free to start a different topic on this issue but the odds are it will incite people to point fingers just as you say they do in your post.
I am locking this one down simply because rule #4 and others are broken all over the place.
