Title: its been asked for before but..................

Firstly I have searched. I'd like to see barrage balloons added over town.

reasons -

It will make NOE base captures more interesting. Putting them at higher variable alts,say 1.5K+ ish, forces the pop much earlier (if you want to destroy them). This give defence a more sporting chance. I would like to see them lethal to both sides and if you destroy one,rather than go boom,they slowly sink to the ground,still presenting a danger.
  You therefore have 2 options,pop early and show up on dar,or thread the needle to maintain surprise. You could go even further by having some kind of spotter on board to give advance warning,kinda like having a second functioning dar ring round town to show all enemy cons in range irrespective of alt.

Strange request from a Rolling Thunder squad member,yes. But i like the idea.

EDIT    The He-111 had a device to cut the cables i believe.

You can find posts going back to 2000 or even 1999 asking for this same thing.

It's been asked for many a time.

Not a bad idea...

However i say they should go up if a town starts flashing. That way you arent sitting in the tower and just see a cluter of balloons sitting over the town... might be a lil ugly.  ;)

1)  In order to be non-exploding they would need the following assumptions: a) have to be American BBs as only USA had large amounts of helium  b) we AH pilots don't use tracer &/or incendiary rounds (which we obviously do) 

HOWEVER, flaming gasbags (not the type that will reply to this post  :rofl) that sink towards the ground is a cool idea, if I do say so myself.  :D

2) Problem of the second order: can town ack, or any ack for that matter, kill it?  I would say it should since it is a destroyable object ( just like most any plane i fly  :))
