Title: Fannie Mae and student loans
Post by: Kaw1000 on October 01, 2008, 05:58:55 PM
I heard from a friend today that Fannie Mae is one of the largest

fanciers of student loans. With all the job loses and a tough

economy, this could spell big problems down the road for Fannie

even after the bailout. What do you guys think??

I think any bank with a name as stupid as "Fannie Mae" deserves to go out of business.

Perhaps it was "Sallie Mae" that your friend meant.

At least that was the name in the " Pay to the order of " blank of my final student loan payment check. (And all the previous payment checks I might add.)

I know multiple people who have aske me about this because they have students loans with Sallie Mae (why they ask me is beyond my knowledge).

Just curious, what happens to the loans if the bank tanks it. (Sallie Mae is insured right?)

Insured by the government? I don't understand why folks feel safe with this Insured thing.

We live in a country that is debt up to their ears...how in the world are they going to

Insure the funds  people have in the banks?  No slam Sea bass, just a thought.

Whoa! NOTHING can happen to Sallie Mae, my kid's college loans are them! We've already rented her room to a nice family from Guatemala (And I don't have to mow the yard any more either! :aok)
