I started getting ads pop up and strange music playing in the back ground even if no ads are showing on the screen, it's killing my game play. I did a search here and used AVAST, Lavasoft and Norton but nothing has stopped it. Getting to the point that I just want to wipe everything out and start over. Anyone have any advice for a complete computer tard?

Are you saying that those programs didn't find any malware? If they did, then what was the name of the malware found?
You could try AVG Free. Maybe that will help.
Uninstall Norton's and avast first. They may or may not interfere with AVG. You can always re-install them later if AVG doesn't work.

Try as stated above or even SE AdAware.
-
Be sure to run them with Windows booted to safe mode.

OK...down loaded AVG during lunch break and started scan in safe mode...i think. Anyway, I watch it for about 30 min and it had already found about 30 tracking cookies and 2 trojan horse viruses. Will check it when i get back home in a few hrs. Should I delete or quarantine the viruses?

Play it safe and quarantine for now. You can always empty the vault after you've confirmed that your system is running fine.

Here's three more scanners for you to try.
http://safety.live.com (Free virus scanner. Takes a long time though.)
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10861988 (Spybot Search and Destroy. This tool actually found trojans and spyware that neither NOD32 or AdAware 2008 Pro could find.)
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/AVG-Anti-Rootkit.shtml (AVG Anti-Rootkit Free. This tool literally saved my sister's computer from utter destruction. Rootkits are nasty hidden files, this tool is great at finding them.)

Spybot-Search-Destroy is about as good as you can find. I've used it for years. :noid :salute

I've had pretty bad experience with AdAware... It was on our University laptops, but they recommended we uninstalled it, because it was giving many people issues with glitches and viruses.
AVG is free, and a decent anti-virus program. However, I've been running no anti-virus software for 3 years now (for two main reasons) and I haven't had a virus since.
Norton was actually the cause of a virus I got back a few years ago. A virus had attacked Norton first, then the rest of my computer. If I hadn't been running Norton, I wouldn't have had the virus.

did you update your antivirus... norton sux by the way .
-
I actually found a subfolder in norton's "quarantine" folder called quarantine that was a trojan, ofcourse norton totally ignored it.
Hijackthis can help and if your really infected andcant solve the problem,Bullgard has a free trial and excellent online support. Thats how I found the norton problem.

You can cure about 99.99% of virus woes by getting rid of IE. There are so many browser vulnerabilities and exploits for them that no AV product can keep you safe if you surf the web a lot. Download a copy of Firefox and the add-on NoScript. NoScript has a white list that you build for sites you trust. All other sites are blocked for JavaScript, flash, and all the other little nasties that spread malware. If there is something you just have to see, you can temporarily allow scripts for that site. I use Firefox/NoScript exclusively and haven't had a virus or adware installed on any of my computers.
Of course, I do most of my web surfing with a Linux PC, which is sort of cheating.

^5 to firefox!

No wonder! :rofl

Its probably a java platform. Get enditall2 it will end all unessecary programs and end java or find it in your admin tools. You can check your task manager also and see if its there. It may be a program and not adware.

Using "NoScript" has the same effect as disabling ActiveX and Javascript in IE. You can use the zones to insert trusted sites. Configured in that manner, IE will not be any more vulnerable than FireFox is. Just FYI.
Most of the problems with IE stem from the default security settings Microsoft chose.
I do not use anti-virus or software firewalls and have never had a virus or spyware either.
