Try using Ping Plotter (www.pingplotter.com) to 206.16.60.38 to see if it is Internet related.
-
Ya, i did that, but i truly dont know enuff bout computers to be sure what im lookin at.
the machines seem to be in the green and under 200ms, i can post the results if you want, bunch o numbers.

You should run the Ping Plot for about 2 to 4 minutes to get a good sample. The critical column is the PL% (packet loss percentage). That column should be empty.
What type of Internet connection do you have? Have you tried simply power cycling (turn it off and on) the router? Does the problem exist if you by-apss your router?

1.)63.241.192.222 is getting packet loss (8/20 %) and is the last machine next to 206.16.60.38
14 hops from my machine.
2.) DSL and have powered down over and over
3.) can i just ditch the router and plug right in to the wall?

So your router is actually your DSL modem? Well, taking that it is. Have you checked to make sure the ports you opened (2000-6000 on UDP & TCP) are being sent to your computer's IP Address, not some other computer on your network?
-
only one computer in the house.
-
Okay, just checking. Some people forward the ports in a different direction then wonder why nothing is working.

I'll need the Ping Plot data as the problem appears to be on the retunr trip to your computer. Ping Plots can only show the one path from your computer to the server. I have to run it for the return trip to see what is happening.
Ping Plot allows the data to be saved in "ascii" (text) format which can then be copied into a post here.

like this i hope....

The DSL Modem is how you connect to the web. If you get rid of it, you no longer have the Internet.

The problem appears to be at the gateway between bellsouth and AT&T. You might want to bump your ISP about the above. Could be a problem at that gateway or the link is just overloaded.

This helped a few guys I know. Get Ccleaner. free quick download and install. AAolds was discoin every hour(not dancing) he ran ccleaner and maybe had a few discos an evening. CCleaner will clean all temp files, internat files, clear cache, delete index .dat files, check disk file fragments, clear windows log files, cleans cookies and deletes bad unused registry files. I know 20 aces high people who run it and it up their computer performance and helped the disco issue. I do not know how it works but it does.
