My score shows I was killed by a chute? How the heck does THAT happen??? The only thing I can think of is I'm over nme territory and there's a solo guy in a chute (no one else is around). I crash nearby so he gets a "maneuver" type kill?!
In general, does anyone know how the chute kills work?

I have been killed once by a chute this tour also.
The only thing I can think of is when you damage someone and they bail....then you bail because of they damage they inflicted to you. They get credited for killing you while they are in a chute. Maybe this is where the chute kill comes from?

I once bailed out over the water. The guy who shot me down also had to bail -- right next to me. I walked (swam) over to him, we sat around staring at each other's expressionless faces.
I got a kill -- someone tried to strafe me and hit the water.
Maybe that's how you get a kill in a chute?

A cool feature would be: F1 while in a chute enables little man to flip the bird...F2 while in a chute, enables little man to make peace sign with two fingers...etc. etc. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

F3, little man frantically tries to wave off the oncoming death machine...er..P-47D-30 as he gets blasted to ribbons by the 8 brownings. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Tour 12 I had
3 kills in a chute
1 kill by a chute
I must be spending too much time bailing

F4 the man in chute moons the enemy.
But the best would be...
F5 jams a fresh clip into that M1 carbine.
F6 charges the gun.
Firebutton sends a nice spray of .30 cal at the enemy. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Funked,
So I guess that would be Chuting the moon, or maybe Shooting the moon?! At any rate, I like the idea of having guys in chutes with guns. That way if they do land they can pick off any nme troops as needed...as I load another clip in my trusty 45 cal. pistol.
RipSnort, you crack me up man :-)
Spatula, it's hard to argue with your sentiments either way. In my opinion, any handsomehunk who jumps above 3k just to spy is wasting his time. Where's the fun in that I ask you? I usually want to mount up as quick as I can and go get the dweeb who shot me down :-)

I usually dont bail, but I do remember one case where bailing was beneficial to my team. I bailed near an enemy base...close enough to stand on the hill south of the base and see what was going on, but far enough away for acks to not fire at me. From my vantage point I was able to direct my goon into the base by telling him exactly where the enemy fighters were at the moment. It almost worked....it took 3 passes for the enemy to kill me on the ground. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

So...how many fighter pilots had an M1 in the cockpit anyway?
I think when two pilots bail near each other, AH should segue into the "boxing" mode of those crazy hockey games..."where'd the crowd come from?" (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Its caused by you ramming the chute and having the chute owner's innards clogging your air intakes and staining your cockpit glass in a deep satin red. Any aircraft, except the N1k, will go down in such cases. N1k will absorb the nutrients thru its skin and refuel.

LOLOL TAC
I have killed 1 person so far in my chute, and been killed zero times.
I want to know how many chutes I have killed.
